(42.5cm.) high, impressed marks to side and front of plinth, printed marks to inner, together with a female nude figure eating apple, leaning on tree trunk, unmarked, 12in. (30.5cm.) high, and a Classical female bust. (3) * Innocence with slither to back right side and back of plinth, otherwise models appear good.

A VENETIAN CARVED PINE AND FRUITWOOD DEVIL FIGURE ON A PLINTH, ATTRIBUTED TO FRANCESCO TOSO (D.1893)LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURYIn the form of a faun with 'S' shape posture, the detailed carving including the lace cravat, lapels, pockets, buttons, on a canted rectangular stepped plinth 169cm high Murano born Francesco Toso was born into a glass making family. He set up on his own making mirrors and ebonised sculptures with this distinctive style of carving and hues of wood. Toso's work was acclaimed at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago, where Toso suddenly died.
