The initials within the spandrels suggest that this clock was presented as a marriage gift.

Provenance: Charles Ethelbert Hillman (d. 1939) who was mayor of Tunbridge Wells in 1938-39. Every Summer he and his family holidayed in Switzerland and brought back various Black Forest carvings as souvenirs.
