A late 17th century Dutch ebony rosewood tortoiseshell veneered ivory strung and mounted table cabinet, of breakfront outline, with moulded projecting cornice above a central architectural door with two niches flanked by cylindrical tapering columns, enclosing an arched mirrored interior with balustrades centred by a figure and buildings in a water landscape, with two curved front drawers above, cube parquetry 'floors', the three steps leading up concealing a drawer released by removing the two columns and flanked by two drawers, the door with a central starburst and geometric parquetry, a further drawer below, flanked by eight drawers with raised and fielded panel fronts, having panelled sides and moulded concave fronted spreading plinth base, on a late 17th century style table, the moulded rectangular rosewood top on an ebony underframe with spiral turned and square section legs united by stretchers.Cabinet 113cm wide x 38cm deep x 64cm highTable 119cm wide x 46cm deep x 66cm high.Illustrated
Of Napoleonic Interest; a French bronze and gilt metal timepiece, second half 19th century, modelled as Napoleon seated sleeping in a chair, one leg raised and resting on a canon ball which forms the timepiece, surmounted by an eagle and resting on crossed canon barrels, the naturalistic rectangular base on a stepped verde antico marble plinth and acanthus cast feet, the movement numbered 1456, 28cm wide x 12.5cm deep x 29cm high.Illustrated
A George III style mahogany and ebony classical vase shape urn, 19th century, the hinged top with a band of flowering scrolling leaves, bead and dart bandings, the leaf carved surmount with a pineapple finial, hinged opening and concealing a compartment, brass lock and key, on a socle and square plinth base, probably intended as a knife box, 60cm high.
