A SWISS GILT BRASS 'ATMOS' MANTEL TIMEPIECEJAEGER-LECOULTRE, 1970'sThe single train movement wound via the expansion and contraction of an aneroid chamber mounted to the rear of the mechanism and regulated by torsion escapement with rotating balance suspended at the base of the movement and numbered 346230 to suspension platform, the circular gilt on white baton numeral chapter ring with Arabic quarters enclosing motionwork inscribed, SWISS MADE, JAEGER_LECOULTRE, ATMOS, the rectangular five-glass case with canted angles and pin-hinged front door over plinth base incorporating adjustable front feet and bubble level to the engine-turned upper interior surface.22cm (8.25ins) high, 18cm (7.125ins) wide, 13.5cm (5.25ins) deep.Condition Report: Movement is in clean working condition. The dial has some very slight discolouration/mellowing to the gilt finish of the numerals otherwise is in fine condition. A FINE FRENCH EMPIRE ORMOLU HOUR STRIKING PORTICO MANTEL REGULATOR WITH CENTRE SECONDSJOSEPH SCETTO, PROBABLY PARIS, EARLY 19th CENTURYThe circular countwheel striking movement with five-wheel trains and pinwheel escapement planted on the backplate regulated by substantial gilt disc-bob 'gridiron' compensated half-seconds pendulum with knife-edge suspension, the 4.5 inch convex white enamel Roman numeral dial signed J'ph Scetto to centre within concentric seconds ring divided into halves and further minute ring to outer track, with blued steel moon hands within repeating acanthus leaf cast bezel, the case with tablet upstand and complex dentil ogee cornice to entablature over dial and pendulum flanked by four Corinthian columns with smooth shafts over plinth base with stylised repeating leaf cast shallow ogee moulded skirt and compressed bun feet.56cm (22ins) high, 29cm (11.5ins) wide, 16.5cm (6.5ins) deep. Provenance: The Selwyn Demmy Collection. Joseph Scetto appears not to be recorded in the usual sources however a clockmaker with the surname 'Scettot' is recored in Baillie, G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as working in Paris 1812-15.The provision of five-wheel trains would suggest that the present timepiece would have a duration of at least one month. Condition Report: The bell is lacking otherwise the movement appears complete and all original with no visible evidence of alteration or significant replacements. The movement will run and strike however as it is a little discoloured/neglected a gentle clean/service will be required before putting it into service. The dial has some very slight chipping around the winding holes and several very light surfaces scratches to the enamel surface otherwise is in good original condition. The seconds hand has been repaired. The case appears to have been re-gilded however is in good overall condition with only a few areas of light spotting to the finish as well as other very slight bumps, scuffs and scratches.Regulator has its original pendulum but no winding key. A FRENCH LOUIS PHILIPPE ORMOLU MOUNTED EBONISED PORTICO MANTEL CLOCKUNSIGNED, SECOND QUARTER OF THE 19th CENTURYThe circular eight day countwheel bell striking movement with anchor escapement regulated by decorative 'gridiron' pendulum incorporating floral rosette cast bob and serpent decorated yoke, the backplate stamped 948, the circular silvered brass engine-turned Roman numeral dial with pierced blued steel hands within differing floral bloom cast bezel, the case with tablet upstand to the entablature with ogee cornice and basket of flowers centred insect inhabited foliate scroll cast mount to the lintel over dial and visible pendulum set between four Roman Doric columns with engine-turned gilt caps and bases, the plinth base fronted with a conforming mount over canted skirt and small compressed bun feet.50cm (19.75ins) high, 26cm (10.25ins) wide, 14.5cm (5.75ins) deep.Condition Report: The movement appears complete, all original and is in working condition, however the mechanism is somewhat dirty/dusty hence a precautionary clean/service is advised. The dial has a few light spots of discolouration and light wear/fading to numerals otherwise is in good condition. The case is complete with the mounts retaining original gilding with only very light wear. The inside lower section of each of the rear columns has some scuffing/bruising from being knocked by the pendulum bob and the box of the base has at some point become separated and re-attached to the bottom skirt slightly out of alignment. The box also has some shrinkage cracking to the rear right hand corner and some veneer chipping to the corner of the skirt beneath. Faults are otherwise limited to minor bumps, scuffs and wear commensurate with age and use.Clock is complete with a pendulum and winding key. Condition Report Disclaimer
