A mid 18c thirty hour longcase clock, the 12" square brass dial signed Richard Midgeley (probably Halifax). The dial has floral spandrels to the corners, a date ring, dummy winding holes and a Halifax penny moon above the centre with a separate aperture indicating the day of the moon. The chapter ring has Roman numerals and outer Arabic five minute numbers. The hands are unmatched steel, the movement is chain driven with countwheel striking on a bell. It is contained in a tall oak case which has been heavily re-carved at a later date. The hood has a flat top with broad outstanding top moulding and turned columns flanking the dial, the trunk has a long rectangular trunk door. The base has an inset rectangular panel and a wavy plinth, from the top moulding to plinth the whole is profusely covered in Victorian carving, 87" tall overall.
A late 18c eight day longcase clock, the 12" arched silvered dial signed William Marsh, London and having strike/silent (mechanism removed) and seconds dials (the date aperture has been filled). The five pillar movement has rack strike and anchor escapement and brass bound weights and brass pendulum rod. It is contained in a black lacquered case with full arched hood and plain columns flanking the dial. The trunk door is divided into two transfer printed scenes, the top one of a shepherdess and her flock and the lower showing a domestic scene of a couple, these are divided by gold lacquered floral and geometric panels. The door has a raised edge London type moulding and the base has another transfer panel showing a bird and floral display, the clock has a plain plinth and stands 85.5" tall.
A Victorian Mahogany chiffonier, raised back with pierced and carved scrolling decoration on a base with two frieze drawers above two panelled cupboard doors and plinth base. h. 136 cm, w. 120 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Some veneers lacking, other veneers lifting, surface wear, slight splits to side, usual wear and tear commensurate with age.
A George lll oak long case clock, the brass 12 inch dial with silvered chapter ring, subsidiary second dial and date aperture, inscribed W Yeadon, Stourbridge, on a thirty hour striking movement, the case with plain hood with blind fret work, square glazed door on a trunk with rectangular door cross banded and inlaid base and plinth foot. Overall height 200 cm approximately. CONDITION REPORT: No warranty is offered as to the working condition of the movement, case has repairs, alterations, wear and paint marks.
