John Smith of Chester - late 18th century mahogany 8-day longcase, brass moon roller dial and three-train movement, with a swans necked pediment, brass paterie and an inlaid oval to the centre, hood door with contrasting banding and scalloped edge, shaped back splats and reeded pilasters with Corinthian capitals, trunk with canted corners, wavy topped door with conforming banding and inlay, square plinth with an applied decorative base, brass dial with scroll spandrels, diagonally engraved dial centre, wide chapter ring with Roman numerals, five minute Arabic's and minute dots, seconds dial, date aperture and steel hands, makers name boldly engraved round the arch of the dial, rack striking movement with a recoil anchor escapement, striking the hours on one bell and the quarters on four. An Edwardian mahogany inlaid breakfront wardrobe. The central section with linen press above two short and two long drawers flanked by hanging space raised on a plinth base, height 210cm width 232cm depth 58cm.All joints are firm and stable, the left hand central door has a split and associated grazes, general wear, stains scratches commensurate with age and usage, the far right hand edge with bumps chips and losses. An Edwardian satinwood two-part bookcase Possibly originally from a ship, the open upper part with Greek key carved cornice above three adjustable shelves fitted with tubular retainers, the lower part with two drawers above two doors with quarter veneered and crossbanded panels on a plinth base, height 180cm, width 104cm, depth 39cm.
A George III eight-day longcase clock. The 30cm square brass dial with later arch, painted a country scene, contained in a later mahogany case, height 96cm.The movement has not been working for some time and will need attention. The later mahogany case is off at the plinth base with an associated split to base moulding and section off but present. The plumb is off the pendulum rod but present, with two weights, the minute hand is off but present. No key.
Gordon Russell (1892-1980) A pair of oak bedside cabinets with an open shelf above a single cupboard door enclosing a single shelf on a plinth base and castors circa 1935, height 76cm width 39.5cm depth 35.5cm. (2) Sturdy. Small surface marks. Watermarks to surface (see photo) of one and small wood chip to rear of one. No evidence of woodworm. Fitted with later casters.
A large Art Deco style cold cast group. Of reclining figure with a hound on a marble and onyx plinth base, height 30cm width 57.5cm depth 20.5cm.Some staining and surface scratches to the base and figure, could do with a clean. A couple of small chips to marble base. No other condition issues to report.
The sporting or kneeling spirit of ecstasy was designed by Sykes in 1934 after a request from Rolls- Royce. The design was for the more sporting Rolls Royce models, with the aim of improving visibility as well as differentiating a sporting Rolls from the "others". First appearing on the cars in 1934 to 1939 then again after the war from 1945 to 1956. It was ultimate replaced with a smaller version of the standing spirit. Adorned on the Dawn, Wraith, and some Phantoms. It is a rare piece of motoring mascot history. In fantastic condition, the mascot itself stands at 9.5cm tall. Siting atop of a radiator cap, which is in turn mounted on a lovely dark wood plinth. It's total height is 26cm. Signed Sykes an dated 26.1.34
A LEVANTO GREEN AND RED MARBLE PEDESTAL LATE 19TH CENTURY 125.5cm high, base 41cm square Condition Report: Wear, marks, knocks and scratches as per age, handling, use, and cleaning.
