CONDITION REPORT: The bookcase is in structurally very good order. The top looks very clean with no significant marks or any cracks or damage. The frieze beneath the top is in good condition. The left-hand side is in good order as are both uprights. The right-hand side has a small loss to the rear edge approximately 1 cm in maximum depth and 4 cm in length. This is right at the wall. The plinth is in good condition all around with only minor scuffs and blemishes as one would expect. The shelf surfaces are marked and scratched as are the shelf fronts and internal sides where the shelves have been moved up and down. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
A late 19th/early 20th century mahogany pedestal desk, with tooled leather writing surface, moulded edge and three frieze drawers and with three further drawers to each panelled pedestal. Height 75 cm, width 136 cm, depth 76 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The desk is structurally very sound and in generally good order. The tooled leather writing surface is in generally good condition with only minor marks, the odd very small perforation but no significant tears or scratches. There is also the odd old ring mark. The mahogany surround is in good order all round. The moulded edge also is in good condition as is the frieze. All drawers run smoothly. There is one lock missing to the second bottom right hand pedestal drawer. We have one key which operates all remaining locks. The handles appear to be original with the exception of the bottom drawer handles which are later replacements. The desk is panelled all round but not quite so well at the back although it could be freestanding. There are some marks and scratches around the plinth and kneehole as one would expect. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
A Victorian mahogany chiffonier, with moulded edge above two drawers and a pair of panelled cupboard doors enclosing shelves and with plinth below. Height 92.5 cm, width 121 cm, depth 44 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chiffonier is generally in good original condition with no significant issues. The top is of good colour and not significantly scratched. Both drawers run smoothly. The handles appear to be original. The base drawers close correctly. There are no splits to the panels, they are not warped. The right hand side is somewhat dirty and dusty but again not split. A William IV mahogany bookcase, in two sections, the top half with moulded cornice above a pair of glazed doors with wooden astragals enclosing adjustable shelves flanked by moulded pilasters, the base fitted with cupboards and raised on a plinth. Height 202 cm, width 139 cm, depth 35 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The shelves to the upper section are adjustable. The shelves do not run full width, the top section is divided into two. There are 11 shelves in total. The base cupboards have fixed shelves, 3 to the left and 2 to the right. The bookcase is structurally sound and in generally good order. The cornice is all present and has only very minor scuffs and marks as one would expect. The crossbanding beneath the cornice is also in generally good order as are the sides of the top. There are no cracked glass panels and as far as we can tell no panels have been replaced. The doors are not warped and close as they should. The corbels and pilasters have minor marks and scuffs but are in generally good order. The base is also in fairly good condition with only minor marks and small nibbles. The doors are not significantly warped. The sides of the base are in good condition as is the plinth. Whilst the veneers, crossbanding and pillars on the front of the upper and lower sections all match there is a suggestion that this piece may have been part of a larger bookcase. There is a slight overhang at the back where the protrudes beyond the base of the lower. The sides of the lower section appear to have been re-veneered at some point. The shelf between the two sections looks to be a similar age to the re-veneered sides so there is definitely some alteration that has occurred. The upper doors are also currently locked although we are attempting to find a key to fit. We have also notes a slight warp on the bottom right hand door. The short section of astragal at the bottom left of the right upper door is missing.
