A large 18th century eight-day broken-arch dial longcase clock; the broken arch with silvered ring signed Samuel Wichell, Pickadilly and surrounding a figure of Old Father Time; silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds-hand and date aperture, 12" dial; the case with allover japanned decoration depicting figures, buildings, flowers etc.; approx. 228cm high CONDITION REPORT: This has come from a deceased estate clearance effected recently. The vendor's father owned it for many years but we don't know if this is the original movement to the original case but it does look very good. The silvered chapter ring and the pierced gilded spandrels and broken arch dial all look in very reasonable condition. The clock can be seen lifted off its plinth base which would all go back together fairly easily. The case has scratches, some marks, some lifting of lacquer, scuffs and dirt commensurate with age. On the very top of the hood the flat horizontal plank looks as if it has been replaced some years ago. There is some evidence of small old splitting. The clock has 2 weights and a pendulum. We can't see any evidence of woodworm either historic or recent although there are some old historic mostly smaller splits to the case/lacquerwork. (see images).

A fine 19th century silver-plated dessert service: two pairs of nut crackers, a set of 12 silver-plated and mother of pearl handled dessert knives and forks, a pair of berry spoons, two picks and a pair of grape scissors; all within a highly unusual folding oak case with five hinged sections folding inwards; the upper section bearing the mark of James R. Ogden, Goldsmith, Jeweler and Diamond Merchant, 23 Cambridge Street, Harrogate; the folded case 31cm high x 24.5cm wide at the plinth base
A large, fine and rare mid-19th century French chestnut or ash femme de chambre; the outset cornice above four glazed doors opening to reveal shelf space, four concave moulded drawers below and four panelled doors, each with a central lozenge design, original ironwork and of very good colour, raised on plinth base, circa 1840, 230cm wide x 53cm (deepest) x 195cm high, together with original copy invoice from Denzil Grant (Suffolk Fine Arts Limited) for £9,600 CONDITION REPORT: This is in two sections top and bottom and each section is exceptionally heavy. The cornice and plinth base are not removable. Condition is generally commensurate with age. The second door in from the left has a cracked pane also the first door in from the right. As a French provincial rustic piece it is in reasonable order. There is evidence of historic woodworm mostly to the left hand side upper section and also some minor historic worm to the right hand side. This does have some splits to the sides but these are really just where the individual planks are parting having shrunk across the grain through time. The piece retains a good overall colour and does show minor scratching and scuffing mostly commensurate with age and in our opinion this would benefit from a decent wax polishing. Some sections of wood have split naturally (notably the right hand vertical where the bottom hinge is on the top section and it looks as if these have been filled some years ago). This comes with an original copy invoice from Denzil Grant (Suffolk Fine Arts Ltd) for £9,600 as originally supplied to the clients.
A magnificent pair of verdigrised coade stone style pineapple finials on square plinth base, approx. 85cm high (with some damage etc., commensurate with age) CONDITION REPORT: Provenance: Privately from a lady who has moved from a very big seven figure house recently and these items are finials which adorned stone pillars at the entrance way to the house. The two finials are not perfect they have sustained some damage. The items are verdigris'd and the left hand finial has several chips to the extremities, mostly lower. There is also some stone chippings away from the square plinth base and some what looks like a hairline crack emanating from the bottom of the left hand one coming up into the main body. The right hand finial has a large crack running approx. a third of the height and running for about a foot and a half etc. This is possibly an old repair? The socle to that finial looks as if it's had some reparations at some stage and again there are pieces away from the extremities as seen by several images. The second one has a continuation crack running around approx. half the stone piece where the pineapple motif first starts from. We advise that these are not perfect but stand well, show well and would anticipate that with a professional restoration they would look quite striking as gatepost finials again. It is worth noting that on one side of the square plinth base there is some writing and this translates as Coade Lambeth Dated 1791. The finials are known to be approx. 84cm high from the tip of the finial to the bottom of the square plinth base.
