A William IV mahogany dwarf linen press, having a well figured top above two arched panel doors flanked by plain pilasters with foliate capitals enclosing four drawing slides, all upon a plinth base. 113.5 cm wide, 110.5 cm high, 58.5 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: The press is in generally good order. The top is flat with no splits and no serious scratches or marks. The front left hand corner has had a small repair to the crossbanding and there are two small old repairs to the crossbanding on the right hand return. The right hand side panel is in generally good condition with no splits and only minor old marks and scratches. The left hand side has several veneer repairs which should be visible on our images. The doors are not warped and are both in generally good condition. The centre beaded moulding has a small loss to the top and there is a slight gap between the doors when closed. The lock is present but we do not have a key. Both left hand door bolts are present. All interior trays are also in situ. One has a small loss to the front bottom left hand corner the others have minor nibbles. The plinth base is in generally good condition all round with some minor veneer repairs. In our opinion the piece could be enjoyed in its current state without the need for any work.
A Victorian mahogany chest of drawers, with plain top above a figured frieze in turn above two short and two long graduated oak lined drawers each with turned bun handle and supported upon turned feet. 94 cm wide, 79 cm high, 49 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: The chest of drawers is in generally very good order. There are no issues with the top or sides. All drawer fronts are in good condition. All knob handles are original as are the lock escutcheons. All locks are present. We have no keys. The plinth base is in good condition all around as are the feet and backboards. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The piece is structurally sound.
A Compactum dark oak gentleman's fitted wardrobe, K.N. Model, the well appointed interior with original fittings. Width 107 cm, height 173 cm, depth 41 cm. CONDITION REPORT: On first appearance this looks to be in clean order however the upper left hand side panel has got some old woodworm holes although these are not extensive. There are paint splashes along the bottom plinth of the left hand side. The right hand side varnish is fading in patches. The left hand door handle patina is rubbed. The interior is clean throughout. The Compactum hangers all have signs of wear. There is a surplus hook in the right hand side interior door which is not original. The interior lock which releases the left hand door works as it should. There are external commensurate with age scuff marks around the base.
A Victorian walnut veneered vitrine, crossbanded and with boxwood strung decoration with gilt metal mounts upon a plinth base with short turned feet. 116 cm wide, 108.5 cm high, 34 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: The vitrine is structurally sound. It is however generally very dirty and requires a good clean. All metalwork is present but generally dirty and tarnished. With the exception of some minor rippling to the veneers caused by water damage to the top right-hand corner, the veneers are all in generally good order with only very minor losses in places. The plinth base is a little scuffed and marked. The doors are not warped. The lock is missing. The cloth lining to the shelves is perished and very dirty.
An Edwardian walnut low bookcase, with rear pediment above a moulded dentil cornice and four drawers with glazed cupboard doors beneath enclosing shelves and raised on a plinth. Width 184 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The shelves are adjustable and could all be removed if necessary. The internal height of the bookcase is 86.5 cm, the internal depth to the shelf fronts is 28 cm. The left-hand doors open but the lock is fixed in the lock position. The right-hand doors are locked. We have what we believe to be the key but it is reticent in turning the lock mechanism. These are simple locks and the problem should be easily remedied. The bookcase is in reasonably good condition. There are no significant issues. The doors are not warped, all brass work is original. The colour is generally good. There are some minor blemishes and marks in places but no real problems. The rear upstand is detached. The top edge moulding has an old timber break however this simply needs fixing in place as there is no loss. There are some minor scuffs to the rear upstand and a very small loss to the top left-hand corner.
