Bentley & Beck, a Regency mahogany longcase clock: the eight-day duration, five-pillar movement striking the hours on a bell and 'ting-tang' quarters on two bells, striking once at quarter-past, twice at half-past and three times at quarter-to, with the backplate engraved with the maker's name Bentley & Beck, Royal Exchange, London, the twelve-inch Gothic arched painted dial having black Roman numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial, a 'strike/silent' dial within the arch and blued steel hands, the Gothic shaped mahogany case having raised ebonised mouldings to the hood, trunk and base with canted corners to the trunk, the hood with decorative ebonised inlay and fluted columns, all standing on a tapered plinth, height 218cm.* Biography Bentley & Beck are recorded as working in London as a partnership between 1815 and 1824. Known pieces signed by them include a Congreve rolling ball clock, a musical bracket clock and a fine watch. John Bentley was apprenticed on the 6th September 1796 to Boys Err Burrell becoming free and a member of the Clockmakers Company from 1813 until at least 1823. James Beck of 5, Sweetings Alley, was a chronometer maker being recorded as a member of the Clockmakers Company from 1811 until at least 1823.
A 19th Century North Italian rosewood, ebonised and ivory inlaid cabinet:, with a stepped pediment and a moulded cornice, the frieze with Classical figures in various poses, enclosed by a pair of doors with horsemen and figures and a dragon being slayed, within shaped arches, flanked by turned half columns, fitted with a single long central frieze drawer and recess below with panelled back decorated with a figure in a horse-drawn chariot, on a stepped and angled ebonised plinth and bracket feet.

A Victorian mahogany kneehole desk:, of breakfront outline, the top with a ledge back moulded edge and rounded projections, fitted with a central frieze drawer and recessed enclosed cupboard below, flanked by four short drawers to either side, between spiral fluted columns, on a plinth base, 124cm (4ft 0 3/4in) wide.
