A 19th century bronze inkwell and cover, the latter surmounted by the infant Hercules kneeling on the skin of the Nemean lion while tackling a serpent in each hand, the cylindrical sides of the well cast in relief with scenes from the hero's tasks above three paw feet resting on red and black mottled marble circular plinth, 20cm (8 in) high (2)

A late 19th/early 20th century Rajhastani lacquer figure of Ganesh, the crowned elephant headed deity seated on a plinth with one of his four hands raised in peaceful greeting, his ochre skin tones with details in red, 33cm (13 in) high There is a crack to the front of the plinth and some of the lacquer has been chipped off. One index finger has been glued back and another is missing.

Lot 1005

William Cattell in Fleet Street Londini fecit, a 17th century walnut marquetry month going longcase clock, the hood with later giltwood cresting above gilt pilasters, 10inch dial signed at the foot, winged mask spandrels, slender chapter ring and seconds dial, date aperture, maintaining power, scored winding squares, large outside countwheel to the six pillar movement, (five of which latched), latched dial feet, the trunk with three marquetry panels to the door, marquetry front plinth, on bun feet, 210cm (82in), measures approximately 255 cm with the hood lifted.  William Cattell is recorded by Britten as working 1664-90, apprenticed to Edward Stanton 1664, made a Freeman of the Clockmaker's Company in 1672. Condition report: Chapter ring outer engraving rather faint. Chapter ring possibly later. Seconds dial possibly replacement. Hands probably later. Seatboard looks old. Crack across top of trunk door. Various other marks and typical cracks and age-related wear and tear. Lacks one side throat convex moulding.

An imposing walnut seaweed marquetry longcase clock, the caddy top hood with fretwork mouldings, 12.25inch dial with silvered calendar ring to the arch, dolphin spandrels below, silvered chapter ring and seconds dial, marked to a recessed oval 'D.Delander, London, No.9', strike silent lever to the right side, mask spandrels, 4 pillar 8 day movement with replacement seatboard, rectangular trunk door and plinth with replaced skirting, restorations, 249cm (97in) Condition report: Case has a warm colour and appropriate looking shrinkage to mouldings. Skirting looks later. Small losses and knocks to case. Trunk lock key present (later lock). Non-original winding key. Good looking dial although we are unsure whether this is the original movement. Movement appears to fit though it is a simple four pillar type. We are unsure as to the authenticity of the Delander name on the dial.  Trunk door with loose moulding and part missing (see photo). Slight packing under seatboard. Guiderails possibly replaced. The inside of case appears to have an old colour wash. Two brass case weights present.

It is considered that the cornice and plinth base are later.
