A George V silver novelty electrically operated cigarette lighter in the form of an aeroplane, the battery contained in the ebonised wood plinth, wing span 21cm, 10cm h, by Sanders & Mackenzie, Birmingham 1935 and stamped PAT NO 373219. This stylish and futuristic lighter is loosely modelled on the Super marine aircraft which was to prove so successful in the biannual Schneider Trophy competition that following three successive team victories (1927-31) the trophy was permanently awarded to Great Britain. . In overall excellent condition with a very slight knock on the top edge of the fuselage towards the tail, but this is hardly noticeable, no damage or restoration. The ebonised finish to the base a little worn on the angles, no damage or repairs, possibly in working order.
