A late 19th century French bronze and gilt bronze mantel clock, as a standing prize bull surmounted with gilt bronze clock, with raised white enamel Roman numerals, twin winding holes for an eight day brass cylinder movement striking on a bell, the drum case further surmounted with a winged cherub upon a scallop shell and adorned with fruiting vines and flowers, the whole raised upon a rouge marble stepped plinth with gilt bronze paw feet, h.61.5cm Condition Report / Extra Information The string from Cupids' bow is partially wrapped around the bow, it possibly should be in his outstretched hand. Join at arms can clearly be seen. Hinge to dial cover is loose. Winding hole between 7 and 8 appears to have been drilled to fit the movement, with evidence of previous aperture. Chipped to corner of marble base.
