Rare Players Ryder Cup Trophy. Rare Players Ryder Cup Silver Gilt Trophy presented to Philip Walton who made his only Ryder Cup appearance for Europe in 1995 at Oak Hill, where he won on the final green of the crucial penultimate singles match which ensured that Europe regained the Ryder Cup which at that time was only the second time Europe had won in US. The silver gilt Ryder Cup is silver hallmarked London and made by Asprey` s and is decorated with the American and European flags on one side and on the opposite are the engraved words, "The Ryder Cup". Just above the stem are four lion heads. Mounted on a tiered dark stained wooden plinth fitted with gilt band engraved "Philip Walton Ryder Cup Player 1995" overall size of approximately 12" tall. Comes with a written letter of provenance from Philip Walton. Note: Going into the Sunday singles matches, Europe trailed by 2 points, 7 to 9. For the first time, they overcame a deficit entering the singles to win the Cup. The unheralded Irish rookie Philip Walton who had only played in one match with Ian Woosnam secured victory for Europe by defeating Jay Haas by one hole securing the crucial 1 point to win.
