[1857 Indian Rebellion, Bibighar Cawnpore massacre] A period model carved wooden cross on printed-paper-covered truncated pyramidal plinth, under glass dome, the plinth bearing an inscription detailing the origin of the cross, extracts from which read "This Cross is a fac-simille of the monument erected over the Well in which the bodies of the murdered Women and Children were thrown on the Outbreak of the Indian Mutiny at Cawnpore...The upper part of this Model is made of the tree which was growing over the Well." The model is accompanied by a contemporary manuscript letter further detailing the background of the model.
