A JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD OKIMONO OF A CORMORANT FISHERMAN (UKAI), holding his hat with one hand and the bird and rope in the other, on an oval base, character marks and star to the underside, approximate height 18cm, s.d. and same glued repairs, comes with a wooden plinth (2) (condition: Repairs to hat, other minor scuffing)

A 19TH CENTURY OVAL SATINWOOD, ROSEWOOD INLAID AND BANDED TILT TOP TABLE, the galleried top with twelve panelled fan design, on a four column pedestal to a plinth base with concave sides and four outswept feet (one foot missing and filled holes to top where handles have been removed), oval size approximately 74cm x 60cm, height 66cm
A small mahogany collectors' cabinet, circa 1900, with a single door opening to five graduated drawers with brass bun handles, raised on a plinth base. Height 24.5 cm, width 16.5 cm, depth 17 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is in generally good condition. It has a good original colour and finish. The top is good order, the door is not warped. The interior drawers are all in good condition and all of the hinges and brasswork are original. We have the key. The door locks. Both sides have visible marks to the timber seams. The back panel is a little scuffed and marked and has a vertical stress fracture.
A pair of Victorian style walnut veneered open bookcases, each with crossbanded moulded edge above a series of adjustable shelves and with plinth base. Width 75 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Both bookcases are in extremely good condition with no significant issues. There are very minor scratches and scuffs as one might expect. The painted shelves also have some surface marks; otherwise the condition is first class. Height 97 cm.
A George III oak longcase clock, by William Abbott Sarson, with two-train striking movement and date aperture, dial width 28 cm, the case with caddy top above a glazed door and long trunk door. Height 203 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The hood is in very good condition. There is a small loss to the bottom left hand corner of the left hand column. The trunk door is in good condition and is not warped. The sides of the trunk are in good condition. The base is structurally sound. The lower plinth is likely to be an old but later replacement. The mask around the dial appears to fit and we do not think that the clock is a marriage. The movement winds on both trains, strikes when advanced and is currently ticking away. We do not have the second hand. The date appears to advance as it should.
A large late Victorian roll top "city desk", panelled all round and with well fitted interior. Width 184 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The desk is in need of a very good clean. The top has numerous old ring and water marks. There are several scratches and scuffs. The panelled sides are generally very dry. The right hand upper panels have several old screw holes where things have been attached to the desk. We are not sure what. There is also a drill hole which would probably have been made to allow a cable. The left hand side panels are not drilled but equally dry. The rear panels are dry also. The interior seems to be generally all present. There do not appear to be any missing drawers or panels. All drawer and pigeonhole fronts are marked and little tired looking but there are no significant losses. The writing surface is again dirty and scratched in places. The right hand slope front support has a small supporting corner bracket made from aluminium. The roll front will only come currently half way down but appears to be in reasonably good order as far as we can see. We have the key. All drawers are a little scuffed and marked as are the panels to the inside of the kneehole. The plinth base is scuffed as one would expect. It is however a large and substantial looking desk. The problems really are only cosmetic rather than structural.
A Victorian mahogany marble topped bedside cabinet, raised on an octagonal base. CONDITION REPORT: This cabinet does have some damage. There is a 6 inch section of the top moulding missing. The marble is in good condition and the main body of the cabinet also. There are some minor nibbles along the door opening as one would expect. The plinth base is in good order. The interior is in good condition also. The only real problem is the loss.
A Victorian Irish silver double snuff box, JT, Dublin 1855, each side of stylised lobed form with bright cut engraved decoration and crest, the covers opening to reveal vibrant gilt interior, all presented upon wood plinth mounted with silver collar engraved 'Presented to the Mess of the 4th Royal Lancashire Light Infantry by Aquilla H. VAT)
A Victorian walnut bedside cabinet, with three quarter gallery, single door and rounded corners and raised on a plinth base. Width 42 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is in generally very good condition. The gallery is in good order. The top is a good colour with no lifting veneers. The frieze is complete all around. The sides of the cabinet are in good order. The plinth base is in good condition also with only minor scratches and scuffs as one would expect. The door closes correctly and is not warped. There is a stress fracture approximately 1 cm in front of the bottom door hinge indicating that the door has been fully forced back against the carcass at some point in the cabinet's history. This is just visible but not an issue.
An early Victorian mahogany wardrobe, with centre double doors opening to pull out trays and drawers flanked on either side by an arched door, with turned columns opening to hanging space. Width 260 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The wardrobe is in generally good order. The cornice is in good condition all around with no significant losses or damage. Both wardrobes sides are in good order again with no significant scuffs or damage. The left hand door has a small veneer nibble to the top left hand corner. There are some minor marks to the pillars but no significant issues. The door closes as is should and is not warped. There is a 3 cm scratch to the right hand upright section of the door. The right hand door is in good order. It is not warped and closes as it should. There are some minor marks to the columns. The centre doors are also not warped and in good condition. There is a circular mark to the centre left and right hand sides where the doors have been opened onto the key that would have protruded from the side locks. Both side locks are present. All lock escutcheons are missing. There are the usual scratches caused by general detaching and removal of doors. There are scuffs and marks at the top edge of the plinth base which is again fairly normal. The interior cloth lining is tired and dirty to all sections of the wardrobe. All interior trays and drawers are present. The plinth base has the usual marks and scuffs that one would expect. Overall the condition of the wardrobe is generally good
A George III oak longcase clock, William Glover, Worcester, with eight day striking movement, dial width 30.5 cm, the case with moulded cornice, blind fretwork frieze, long trunk door and raised on bracket feet. Height 216 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The dial and movement are very clean. The movement winds on both trains and is ticking away and striking as it should. The date seems to operate when the movement is advanced manually. The case is in generally good condition with no significant issues. The hood is in generally good order. The left hand panel has an old vertical stress fracture. The door has a slight warp at the bottom left hand corner but in our opinion this is not problematic. The plinth panel has vertical stress fractures. The backboards are original.
A Victorian mahogany pedestal desk, with gilt tooled leather writing surface, rounded corners, three frieze drawers and three further drawers to each pedestal with wooden knob handles and raised on a plinth base. Width 107 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The desk is in generally fairly good condition. The non-original tooled leather writing surface is in generally very good order with only minor small scuffs and marks as one would expect. The mahogany surround is of good colour and again in good condition with very minor marks. All drawer fronts have the usual minor nibbles to the veneers particularly around the corners and where the drawers meet the runners. All drawers run fairly smoothly with little lateral and vertical movement. Both sides of the desk are in good condition with no significant splitting. The plinth base has the usual old surface scuffs and marks. The desk is structurally sound and could be used in its current state without the need for any repair or restoration. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
A Regency rosewood small open bookcase, with marble top, turned columns, adjustable shelves and plinth base. Width 88 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height 88 cm, shelf depth 13 cm, overall depth 18 cm at top and 15 cm at plinth. The marble top which appears later has been cracked from front to back and repaired. There is also a loss to the centre of the top of the marble approximately 2 cm in length and 3 or 4 mm deep. The brass foliate gallery beneath the marble is in generally good order with one split around the right hand corner which in our opinion is not problematic. The brass capitals are in good order as are both columns. The sides of the piece are in very good condition. The shelves are in good condition. The plinth base has some minor losses to the veneers. The shelves are not fully adjustable they could be moved but the side supports would need to be unscrewed and physically reattached.
