A Victorian oak single fusee mantle timepiece with carved "drum-head" case and a simple unnamed Roman dial on a plinth base with bracket feet. 30 cm diameter dial, 39 cm wide x 16 cm deep x 50 cm overall height. Together with a 1940s Ellliot triple train walnut and chrome mantle clock of geometric form, 34 cm wide. The drum head has now been reunited with its correct pendulum and winds freely and is ticking away without hesitation or pause, this is, of course, no guarantee of reliability or accuracy. The Elliot triple train clock winds on all trains but runs for a little while and then stops.

He was born in 1745 in Denny or Dennyloanhead and was originally a blacksmith or Wright. By 1770 he had become a clockmaker in Falkirk. IN 1780 he was elected as a Stentmaster to represent the town's watch and clockmakers. Russell made longcase clocks, musical clocks, watches, thermometers, and barometers and also installed the Town clock in the Steeple. Credit: Feel Falkirk websiteA private collectionThe clock comes with two cast iron weights and a pendulum. The clock would have been functioning and is equipped with gut lines, the bell staff is broken and the bell has been fractured but glued back together.the dial is good and bright but shows a crack, see images. This was from the home of a local clock restorer who sadly diedi can not guarantee the clock being in working order but can not see why it wouldnt be but it will obviously need work to re-seat/replace the bell and bell staff.Update: Inhave now set up the clock and it runs without any problems, obviously this is no guarantee of reliability of accuracy.I will updat later.
