Littlewoods Challenge Cup winner's trophy awarded to Perry Groves of Arsenal FC in season 1986-87, in the form of a silver-plate miniature of the competition trophy, the body engraved THE LITTLEWOODS CHALLENGE CUP, the detachable lid surmounted with a figure of a footballer, mounted on an ebonised plinth set with a plaque inscribed FINAL, 5th APRIL 1987, WINNER, overall height 24.5cm., in original fitted box baring sponsor's competition logo, fitting from trophy to plinth in need of attention, otherwise good In the 1987 Football League Cup Final, Arsenal defeated Liverpool 2-1. Having trailed the game through a 23rd minute Ian Rush goal, Arsenal's Charlie Nicholas scored a brace with the decisive strike coming in the 83rd minute from a Perry Groves cross. Until this point Liverpool had been on a 144-match unbeaten streak in matches when Ian Rush had scored. It was Arsenal's first win in the competition. The sponsors at this time Littlewoods acquired a trophy from an old defunct football competition to present to the winning team. Its original use was for the winner's trophy for the inter-departmental football competition at the Furness Shipyard, Haverton Hill, Stockton-on-Tees. Perry Groves was signed by Arsenal's George Graham from Colchester United in September 1986 for a fee of £50,000 - this trophy therefore came from his first season at Highbury and in a match where he set up the winning goal.

The doors on the right side have warped a little and the lock does not quite line up when the door is closed, and it will not lock. There is a chip to the wood on the top front edge, there is another on left corner. The top ends are a bit loose and detached. It is showing some rubbing and marking to the edges and sides. There are no cracks to the glass, please see the added photos online. The shelves are adjustable. The depth of the shelves is 33cm. The panes of glass all appear to be original.
Large pitch pine bookcase, inverted breakfront moulded cornice, open adjustable shelves, the base with linenfold doors, plinth base, width 316cm, depth 37cm, height 247cm.Condition report:The depth of the plinth is closer to 38cm, otherwise they are correct. The hinges work well and doors are aligned. There is one piece of plank loose from the back of the base, there is a crack to the right side corner of the top of the edging. The top of the plinth is marked and stained in places. There is light mould marks to the back of boards of the top. There are some light chips to the wood on some edges. The front of the doors are a bit scratched and marked in places. There are no keys for the locks, although mechanisms are in place. The bookcase separates at the top of the plinth only (so in two sections - top shelves and cupboard base).Shelves are adjustable. Shelf depth 21cm. Internal shelf depth 28.5cm.

Dinky Toys - A boxed Dinky Toys #700 Spitfire MkII Diamond Jubilee of the Royal Air Force. The commemorative plated Spitfire shows some dusty signs of age and display, otherwise appears to be in Good condition. The plinth has a small hole to RAF emblem but generally also appears Good.
