Fine English ebonised triple fusee verge five pillar bracket clock, the 7" brass arched dial signed Paul Rimbault, London on a silvered arched plate over subsidiary forty-eight hour and strike/silent dials, over a silvered chapter ring and dial plate with calendar aperture, the five pillar movement with pull repeat and striking the quarters on a nest of eight bells and the hours on another, the back plate also signed Paul Rimbault, London, within an ebonised case with brass plinth, surmounted by a caddy top, four turned finials and brass carrying handle, 21" high (pendulum and two door keys) *The maker Paul Rimbault is recorded as working between 1767 and 1785 and his clocks rarely come onto the auction market
Good small ormolu and champleve decorated two train carriage/mantel clock, the movement striking on a gong and the back plate inscribed French Make and with the maker's trademark logo WM & Co within an oval, no. 4706, the 2.5" dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, within a gilt mask, the case decorated to the front and sides with geometric foliate panels, upon a stepped plinth and surmounted by a rounded arched pediment, 7.75" high
Oak cased automaton two train mantel clock striking on a bell, the 4.25" square silvered dial fitted with a thermometer, over a window revealing a blacksmith striking an anvil on the hour at a glowing furnace with later illumination, upon stepped plinth and with brass carrying handle, 14.5" high
A George V silver large two handled cup, by Mappin & Webb, London 1930, the circular pedestal foot decorated with a band of entwined dragons and supporting a large circular bowl, engraved to the front, with two applied handles each decorated with Celtic designs and terminating in a leaf shaped end piece, the cup standing on a black wooden plinth marked 'Mappin & Webb Ltd, 168 Oxford Street, London N.W.', 68ozt 25.50 x 25.50 x 25.50cm (10 x 10 x 10in) Generally in good condition with no evidence of damage or repairs. Hand engraved to the front, although the silver bowl is of thick gauge.
AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF TIBETAN OR NEPALESE POLISHED BRONZE JOSS STICK HOLDERS, 19th Century or earlier, each cast in the form of a Buddhistic lion standing on a pierced rectangular plinth and supporting a vase upon its back, the eyes of each inlaid in turquoise, the rear rim of each base with an engraved inscription, 7.5in high.
