CONDITION REPORT: This bookcase is in generally very good, original, untouched condition with only minor problems. The cornice is in very good condition all round. The four doors are also all in good order with no broken panes of glass and no losses to the timber. None of the doors are warped and all shut correctly and there are no gaps. The carved bellflower decoration is all present and correct. The right hand side of the upper section of the bookcase has two small stress fractures in the mahogany both running from the bottom edge up over one for approximately 12 ins, the other 4 ins. These are not problematic. There are small nibbles to the veneer along this bottom edge which is fairly usual. The left hand side is in better condition with only very small nibbles to the veneer on the bottom edge. The base is in generally good order. The left hand return moulding is a little flattened on the rear section. The right hand return moulding looks to be a later replacement. There is a small loss to the moulding on the front right hand corner and small nibbles to the mahogany along the front edge caused no doubt by lifting the bookcase top on and off. The four base doors shut correctly and are not warped. The oval door panels are a little dry in places particularly the second door from the right where the polish is a little dull in the oval centre. There are no losses to the door mouldings or the bellflower ornament. The sides of the base are in good condition with no issues. The plinth is in good order as are the backboards. There is some rubbing and scratching to the back of the lion and a lot of dirt and dust in the castings on the base. There are however no visible losses, no damage, no repairs and no restoration. The only issue is a crack across the base of the marble which may in fact have been done when the piece was manufactured.

Both sides of the piece are in very good condition with no issues. The left hand door is in good order with no veneer losses of any note. The door is not warped. The wardrobe is not set correctly on its plinth or screwed together so currently the door does not shut correctly. Properly set up we are fairly confident that it would. The centre door has very minor veneer nibbles but no significant losses. There is a dent to the right hand side corresponding with the lock plate on the right hand door. The door is not warped and shuts correctly. The interior is fitted with trays and drawers all of which are present and seem to be in good order. The right hand door is in good condition not warped and there are no veneer losses. The door shuts correctly as it is set correctly on the plinth. The slide in top rails run left to right in both instances. The plinth is in generally good condition with only minor scuffs and blemishes. Overall the wardrobe is in really very good original condition.

Both doors are in good order and there is no damage to the glass. The plinth base is generally a little scuffed the feet are original and in good order. All of the metalwork is looking tired and has lost approximately 50% of its original gilt finish. There are no losses to the metalwork and no cracks to the porcelain panels. The backboards are original. The interior cloth lining is tatty and generally worn at the front edges. The centre section lining is dirty and worn. The sides of the case are in good condition as is the base. The bottom board is clearly later and the clock may well have had a deeper plinth and/or bracket feet. We have a pendulum but it does not appear to be the correct one for the clock, we have the weight. The movement is ticking away without the pendulum and also striking.
