A Rare Irish Pitch Pine Saddle Horse, by Musgrave & Co Ltd, late 19th century, with two iron bridle hooks with arms above hinged leaves, the ends with cast iron labels with a Royal coat of arms Musgrave & Co Ltd, Belfast, London & Paris, with three drawers to one side, the opposing side with a cupboard door, on a plinth base and wheels, 121cm by 48cm by 202cm See illustration This rare saddle horse was made for cleaning, storing and repairing tack by the ironworking firm of Musgrave & Co Ltd, Belfast. Founded in 1843, the family business grew from their beginnings as hardware merchants to manufacturers of their own heating stoves and patented stable and cow-house fittings. From 1890-1914 the trade in stable fittings flourished, with agents and showrooms throughout Europe and the Americas. They were commissioned to outfit stables for the likes of the King of Spain and the cattle barons of South America. As the motor car replaced the horse, Musgrave & Co moved away from stable fittings to concentrate on structural heating and fan engineering.
AN ART DECO SPELTER FIGURE of a reclining naked female on an onyx box shaped plinth and wooden base, 22.8cm long Condition Report: The onyx has been drilled in various places which are visible on the top. The wooden base has been made for the onyx to sit upon at a later stage. The figure has been rubbed in places and the fingers on the right hand are a bit rough. Knocks and chips to the onyx and wooden base.
