Good rare early 17th century oak and marquetry inlaid chest of drawers, the triple plank top over four recessed moulded long drawers each inlaid with scrolling foliage of holly and bog oak, with moulded rounded arched sides, supported upon a plinth base and block feet, 42" high, 44" wide, 22.5" deep (two sections - splits beneath 3rd drawer) *Provenance - Abbey House, Malmesbury, Wiltshire
A Victorian mahogany hall stand stamped I.Ramus, Piccadilly, stepped cornice, rectangular bevel edge mirror, an assortment of hooks, marbled topped base, single drawer to frieze, tapering fluted supports flanked by umbrella stands, plinth base, circa 1890. 208cm high x 122cm wide x 32cm deep.
A large heavily carved and dark stained oak mirror back sideboard, the overhanging cornice with heavily carved acanthus leaf scrolls and central lion mask, the back fitted with an arrangement of three rectangular bevelled mirrors flanked by two carved panels with wrought iron masks, supported overall by turned bulbous columns, the top with moulded edge and recessed centre drawer flanked by pedestals with arched panelled doors enclosing shelves, raised on plinth bases.
Modern Garden Sculpture: â–² John Ravera: A bronze griffin signed John Ravera and dated 1981 and with Meridian, London bronze foundry stamp, mounted on later limestone plinth, variegated green/brown patination 180cm.; 71ins high John Ravera was born in Surrey in 1941. He trained at Camberwell School of Art, working mainly in clay to be cast in bronze. Past President of the Royal Society of British Sculptors. He has public monuments scattered over London and the home counties including the much admired "Family Group" near Battersea Bridge as well as works in Hong Kong and Tokyo. He died in 2006.
