An 18th century oak cased thirty-hour longcase clock, the posted movement with outside countwheel strike on a bell and hanging hoop and spurs to rear, the 10 inch square brass dial with concentric hatched infill ring engraved centre and applied Roman numeral chapter ring with lozenge half-hour markers and signed 'Gilkes, Adderbury' to lower edge, the angles applied with female mask cast spandrels, in a rectangular top case with deep ogee cornice and integral pilasters to hood over rectangular trunk door and plain plinth base, case with restorations, 194cm high. Probably Richard Gilkes, recorded in Loomes, Brian 'Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World, Vol 2' as working in Adderbury 1715-87. Stylistically the movement dates to around 1740 and was originally designed to hang from the wall.

Thomas Bullock is recorded in Moore, A J 'The Clockmakers of Bristol 1650-1900' as working in Bath 1764-73.
