AN EARLY VICTORIAN MAHOGANY SINGLE DOOR DISPLAY CABINET, the caddy top above glazed sides and door with plain columns flanking astragal glazing and with foliate moulded arching to the top, the interior fitted with three stained pine shelves, on a shaped plinth base, height 167.5cm x width 97cm x depth 49.5cm, with key (condition: cabinet has been later fitted with lighting and has a strip light to the underside of each shelf, the key and lock work, the bottom left hand side of the cabinet has been housed against a damp wall and has patches of white bloom, veneer missing from a few places) Door does appear to be warped but we don’t have a key to see whether it stays inline when it is locked as it sits forward at the top and majority of way down

A 16th Century North German oak coffer (restorations) the rectangular plank top above five gothic panels with saints and birds on a shaped base, the sides further carved with birds and portrait roundels, the cast iron lock-plate with stylised figures and foliage, 93cm high x 177cm wide x 72cm deep/see illustration CONDITION REPORT: This substantial chest has had much restoration but the carved panels are very fine. There are many areas of historic worm, wear and tear commensurate with age. The plinth has been replaced, the projecting columns between the panels are later replacements. Some of the floral garlands above the panels are replaced. On the left hand side the upper rail is later. The lock and hinges are not the original. This restoration work most likely dates to the mid 20th Century
