A rare set of four Chinese polychrome soapstone appliqué work painted silk pictures, 18th century, each intricately decorated with scenes of figures in a courtyard with pavilions, plants or trees, in European ebonised pine frames, images 20.5 x 14cm, frames 25.5cm x 19.2cm***CONDITION REPORT***The first picture has applied polychrome soapstone figures, trees rockwork and a stool. The tree has a small loss to a section of the branch and there is evidence that the right hand section of the tree has been reglued down, some slight spotting to the silk ground otherwise good.The second picture has applied polychrome soapstone figures and a section of pavilion upper left. Part of the pierced trellis upper left has split and is pushed in slightly and there are two cracks to the soapstone of the plinth of the pavilion, slight grubbiness to the silk painted silk ground otherwise good.The third picture has applied polychrome soapstone figures, a tree, fence and rock work. There is evidence of a small loss upper right to the tree and sections of the tree have been re-stuck down with a crack across the bough of the tree. Some grubbiness and staining to the painted silk background especially in the sky, otherwise reasonable condition.The fourth picture has applied polychrome soapstone figures a pavilion a lantern/Jordan cover. A Louis XVI ormolu mantel clock, surmounted with the figures of a King holding a spear and a Roman soldier holding aloft a lamb, standing above military trophies, on a stepped base with white marble plinth and turned feet, signed silk suspension countwheel movement numbered 1175, 28.5cm wide, 14cm deep, 36cm high***CONDITION REPORT***Overall looks to be in honest untouched condition, ormolu remains bright but does have some oxidisation spots scattered throughout and a little rubbing to the raised extremities, the spear held by the crowned figure has been repaired half way along, dial with some speckling, movement looks complete but not tested for timekeeping, marble plinth with minor nicking around the edges, comes with a pendulum and associated key. An early 19th century Swiss ormolu mounted mahogany lyre shaped mantel timepiece with enamelled Roman chapter ring and classical mask pendulum decorated with foliate motifs, on later hardwood plinth with glass dome, timepiece 18cm wide, 8cm deep, 40cm high, with plinth and dome 28cm wide, 45cm high The firm of Bautte & Moynier, at 61, rue du Rhône were registered in Geneva as working from 1824-1831. Charles F. Bautte was recognized for his quality creations of watches and jewels, and his reputation was outstanding. A fine Belle Époque Cartier silver, gold, diamond and guilloche enamel mounted 'Mignonette' timepiece, on an agate plinth base, the Roman dial with millegrain set rose cut diamond hour and minute hands and white beaded enamelled border, each side panel set with a single rose cut diamond, indistinct marks to border edge, in original Cartier gilt tooled leather carrying case (lacking handle), with key, height 58mm.***CONDITION REPORT***Slight damage to the enamel in one corner and small chips around the key orifice on the back panel. Some scuff marks to the leather case exterior and some fraying to the silk interior in places. Old white sticky label to base. Watch ticks when wound but the hands do not appear to move so in need of some attention. Hands don't adjust properly, possibly not on central pivot firmly?? A French white marble bust of Juliette Récamier, 32cm wide, 24cm deep, 63cm high Juliette Recamier was celebrated for her beauty and her many illustrious love affairs. Many artists portrayed her elegant looks but Chinard's bust is still considered the most successful. A terracotta version is in the Getty Museum of Art. A George III mahogany longcase clockc.1775, by John Holmes of London, the hood with a sphere finial above a break-arch moulding, with a glazed door flanked by canted front edges and glazed side panels, the flame-veneered arched door above a panelled base and stepped plinth, the 12-inch silvered dial set with Roman numerals and centrally inscribed 'Holmes, London', with a strike/ silent function, a subsidiary seconds dial and a calendar aperture, the twin-train movement with five knopped pillars, maintaining power, anchor escapement and offset pivoted crutch, the wooden rod 'Ludlam' pendulum suspended from a substantial bridge on the backplate, with a massive gilt-painted lead disc-shaped bob, above a calibrated brass sphere for rating, 50cm wide26cm deep226cm highJohn Holmes is recorded as having worked from 156 Strand in London between 1761 and 1802. Holmes was regarded as one of the finest clockmakers of his time and F J Britten comments 'he seems to have been one among the leading mechanicians and when the turret clock at Greenwich Hospital was destroyed by fire in 1779, he was given the order for a new one. The Wetherfield Collection contains two long mahogany case clocks of his manufacture, one a particularly choice example of Chippendale dating from about 1770'.For an almost identical example, see Christie's, 'Important Clocks and Marine Chronometers', 20 February 2008, lot 99. Some light wear, tiny scratches and marks to the dial. The clock was purchased at auction in 2016 and was subsequently worked on by Brian Baskerville, and we are told has since been running well in the vendor's home prior to consignment. Ticks and strikes when wound, however we feel that the clock may benefit from a light service by the successful purchaser. Please see additional photos.

Gipsy Moth IV - Lot to include a limited edition, highly detailed model of Gipsy Moth IV, 406 of 500, the models built as part of the 40th anniversary of Sir Francis Chichester's voyage.
