*Nicholas Dimbleby (b.1946), a mixed metal sculpture depicting a mother and three children around a column, raised on a tapering plinth, 60cm high 50cm square This lot is a maquette for a proposal that won a competition for a sculpture to be erected in a Chapman Taylor architects office development project in Salisbury. The main criterion of the competition was to produce a sculpture that could be viewed from all angles due to its position in the centre of a courtyard. Bobby Chapman and Elisabeth Frink, as the judges, considered this to best suit the location. Lot 694 is a maquette for a proposal submitted by David Backhouse for the same competition. *Artist's Resale Right may apply to this lot.
*Andre Wallace (b.1947), 'STREET LIGHT' a mixed metal sculpture of an embracing couple beside a lamp post, their dog standing to one side of the paved octagonal base, mounted on a wooden plinth, 54cm high 59cm diameter With copies of correspondence between Mr Chapman and Andre Wallace. Born in Taunton, Wallace studied at the Somerset College of Art from 1965-67. He continued his studies by attending the Royal College of Art from 1971-3 when he was awarded the Sainsbury Prize for Sculpture. In the following years he has been commissioned to create sculptures for public spaces in the UK and has held solo exhibitions. *Artist's Resale Right may apply to this lot. A Victorian silver teapot and matched sugar bowl, by West & Son London 1896 & Thomas Haynes, Birmingham 1896, respectively, of rounded oblong form, with gadroon rims and half lobed bodies, and on a plinth foot, the teapot with ebonised finial and handle, 29oz gross, each engraved with Masonic emblems.
A Tibetan bronze stupa, possibly 17th/18th Century, of bell shaped form, the circle and crescent motif finial above a ridged spire, the body with arched aperture enclosing a seated Buddha on a double lotus moulded base, the square plinth cast with Buddhistic beasts, emblems and foliate scrolls, traces of gilt, height approx 37cm.
