Smaller vertical engine (flywheel approx 80mm). All mounted on a tiled plinth with hardwood edging and fitted drawer containing drain, dimensions approx 520mm x 520mm. Ladislav Saloun (1870 - 1946) - Bronze des Miroslav Tyrs, Prag, um 1909 Bronze, patiniert. Vollplastische Figur des bekannten tschechischen Nationalisten in leichtem Kontrapost, den rechten Arm mit einem gesenktem Degen dem Betrachter zugewandt. Auf quadratischer Plinthe, auf der rechten Seite signiert "SALOUN". Sockel aus schwarz-grauem Marmor. Degenklinge gebrochen und gut restauriert. Höhe ohne Sockel 66,5 cm.Miroslav Tyrs (1832 - 1884) war ein bekannter böhmischer Kunstkritiker, Kunsthistoriker und Mitbegründer der tschechischen Turnerbewegung Sokol.Ladislav Saloun (1867 - 1942), tschechischer Bildhauer, tätig in Prag. 1912 wurde er als Mitglied in die Tschechische Akademie der Wissenschaften aufgenommen, 1927 zum ständigen künstlerischen Berater der Stadt Prag berufen und 1946 zum Nationalkünstler ernannt. Er zählt zu den bedeutendsten Vertretern des Symbolismus der tschechischen Jugendstilepoche. Die hier vorliegende Bronze stellt eine verkleinerte Version des von ihm 1909 geschaffenen Tyrs-Denkmals auf der Prager Kleinseite dar.Zustand: IILadislav Saloun (1870 - 1946) - a bronze of Miroslav Tyrs, Prague, circa 1909 Patinated bronze. Height without base 66.5 cm.Miroslav Tyrs (1832 - 1884) was a renowned Bohemian art critic, art historian and co-founder of the Czech gymnastics movement Sokol.Ladislav Saloun (1867 - 1942), Czech sculptor, worked in Prague. In 1912, he became a member of the Czech Academy of Sciences, in 1927, he was appointed permanent artistic consultant to the city of Prague and was designated as National Artist in 1946. He is one of the most distinguished representatives of the Czech Art Nouveau symbolism. The bronze on offer is a smaller version of the Tyrs monument in the Lesser Town of Prague created by him in 1909.Condition: II

Ca. 200-300 AD A pair of beautiful, life-size marble statues of nude children representing Harpocrates, the god of silence and secrecy, each represented elegantly standing on a plinth - one hand resting on a pillar surmounted by a pot, the other arm holding a cornucopia. The oval face framed by long, wavy hair, lotus flower to the top of the head. The gods are depicted with a youthful face, the roundness of his features exemplifying the child-like quality. He is depicted with a rounded chin and large, deep-set, almond eyes. Ca. 200-300 AD Seated with his left knee bent on a plinth with lotus flowers, shadowed by a wide nimbus affirming his divinity, the heavy robe wraps around his athletic physique with dramatic folds revealing his muscular torso adorned with a wide torque, elaborate necklaces, a string of amulets, and a jeweled armlet with granulated edges; his head facing downwards in padmasana, face with well-defined, heavy-lidded eyes and a raised urna, flanked by the ripples of his hair at the temples rising into an elaborate turban with a central jewel. Standing beside the Bodhisattva is a figure making the gesture of worship. A 19th century Continental carved ivory mythological bust and associated stand and plinth, together with a 19th century carved ivory Bacchanalian figure standing on an ebonised plinth, the bust on stand L15cm overall Condition Report: The bust is finely carved, it has a small flat chip to front edge, some very minor discolouration to helmet. The stand that it sits on is associated and it is not properly connected to this. There is a small turned ivory screw attachment to top of turned base. The base itself is ok. The Bacchic figure cracked and repaired through raised right arm and left hand holding the grapes, some surface scratching to reverse and areas of yellow discolouration.

A Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) carved ivory Okimono, very finely carved and modelled with a woven basket and brush street seller, he stoops and ties a shin guard to his right foot which is resting upon a tree trunk with exposed vertical roots, he carries an array of varying sized and shaped baskets, brushes, rope and similar items on his back and to his side. He wears a headdress above a serene facial expression, his headdress and jacket are decorated with stylised flowerheads and leaves etc. The whole carving upon a narrow oval, plinth style base, the base with the two-character red inset lacquer seal tablet mark of Shinshu to the underside, raised upon an unassociated Holy Land olive wood cut-away (14.5cm high, approx. 262.7g)
