Chinoiserie longcased clock, the brass two-piece dial with a silvered name plate Hedge Colchester to the arch, silvered chapter ring, matte field, subsidiary seconds ring, date aperture and ringed winding holes, on an eight-day five-pillar movement with anchor escapement and countwheel striking the hour on a bell, in a bell-topped hood with three gilt gesso finials, decorated all over on the red ground in gilt lacquer with chinoiserie scenes and figures, height 233cm (two weights, pendulum) Condition Report: Please see the clocks and watches proviso before bidding. The lacquer has some flaking, mainly around the base of the hood, on he right hand column and on the plinth. The break arch is attached to the square dial; the chapter ring, seconds dial and name plate have been re-silvered; the pendulum suspension is too short for the leader to rest in the crutch.
An early 20th century slate mantle clock, the shaped pediment over three brass columns to each side, the glazed face door opening to reveal cream chapter dial with Roman numerals, two winder holes, raised on a plinth base, fitted with a plaque inscribed and dated '1921'. The plaque bears the name of the recipient who worked for the Midland Railway in Derby, prior to receiving the clock as a gift.
