A golden oak and chequer strung shoe cupboard, by Peter Waals, probably after a design by Ernest Gimson, 1923, the plain top and sides with exposed dovetail joints, the pair of cupboard doors with stepped moulded panels within a frame of holly an macassar ebony, chequer inlaid, with brass drop handles, to the design of Ernest Gimson, probably made by Alfred Bucknell, enclosing three adjustable shelves with chamfered peg supports, on a projecting moulded plinth base with exposed joints. 68.5cm x 34.5cm x 76cm. Good 17th century North Italian cedarwood pokerwork decorated cassone, the substantial richly patinated plank lid hinging on pins, the front decorated with mythical beasts and scrolling floral ornament, sitting on conforming plinth base with fret carved apron CONDITION REPORT Top has circular mark back right - possibly a plug shaped repair, front lip may be replaced, ancient repair to interior base, repair and replaced element front centrally relating to the lock, later replacement lock added in addition to old lock. Slight loss to top front right corner of base. Further far left near front side. Otherwise general wear commensurate with age.Dimensions 156cm wide x 61cm deep x 78cm high
Victorian burr walnut marble topped chiffonier, the arched mirrored back with carved eagle surmount, the base of shaped bowed outline with veined white marble top and enclosed by three mirrored panel doors on plinth base, 132cm wide x 42cm deep x 214cm high CONDITION REPORT Overall some wear commensurate with age, mirrored door mirrors are all slightly distressed. Central mirror and right hand mirror have spidering lines of deterioration (not cracks to be glass), left hand door locked (no key). Otherwise basically OK
