A Meissen two-handed vase and stand, circa 1740, with blue crossed swords marks, the base inscribed and dated 1840, of double gourd form, surmounted with putti in disguise and applied with trailing strawberries and flowers painted with deutsche blumen, the lower part moulded with female masks and rocailles, on a domed foot and waisted plinth, 48cm high overall (a.f).
An early 20th century Chinese carved ivory group of a seated fisherman and a young boy, 19.5cm high, on carved hardwood plinth inlaid with fine silver coloured wire and pierced green stained bone surround, in fitted caseLots 77 - 86 have been privately consigned. The vendor's father was James Eylmar Ridgway (from the Ridgway Tea family) who was a bank manager for the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank in China before the second world war. James Ridgway purchased the ivories in the early 20th century and they were housed in their Chinese residence before the family returned to England. James Ridgway was taken as a prisoner of war during the Japanese occupation and returned to England on his release to join his family, where he later went on to work for the Bank of England. During her older years living as a widow in Bexhill the vendor's mother suffered a burglary where six of the twelve carved ivory flower god figures were taken along with other ivories and jewellery. A photocopy of a press cutting at the time has been provided by the vendor along with a list in Chinese of the figures. CONDITION REPORT: Crack running down the front left of the fisherman. Smaller cracks also present on his knee and running down from his belt. There is a crack running down the left shoulder. There are small cracks present to the child's face, rocky outcrop and around the base. There is a larger crack running down the back of the fisherman. 19.5cm high not including stand. Box with evidence of moth, especially to the interior of the lid

An 18th Century Wm. Sellers, Long Acre, London. Walnut veneered and seaweed marquetry month going longcase clock. The moulded pediment with blind fret ornament enclosed by a waist panel door with a glazed oval aperture inlaid with arabesques, foliate scrolls interspersed with birds, butterflies and figures. The plinth with similar decoration on raised bun feet. The 12" square brass dial with crown and putti spandrels, seconds subsidiary and calendar aperture, the twin train five pillar movement of month duration with bolt and shuttle maintaining power, anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike.
