Macdonald Fecit Roma 1843, on circular socle and ebonised plinth base, 25.5in.Lawrence Macdonald trained in Edinburgh but spent most of his life working in Rome, exhibited regularly at The Royal Academy in London and The Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh and also showed works at the Great Exhibition of 1851.
