A 1920s honey oak cased canteen of silver plated flatware for 12 persons: by Atkins Brothers, Old English pattern, the three fitted drawers holding 12 table forks, 12 dessert forks, 12 dessert spoons, 6 soup spoons, 6 table spoons, 11 tea spoons (one missing), 6 egg spoons, 4 salt spoons, a sugar spoon, a mustard spoon, a pair of sauce ladles, a pair of sugar tongs, a pair of basting spoons and a soup ladle, plus the original 7 piece steel carving set; and a matched part set of 10 dessert and 3 table knives with ivorine handles, all in a three drawer oak canteen with rebated gilt brass handles and two keys, the canteen The flatware in good condition, with no wear to the plating and just expected light scratching from use. Lacks one tea spoon and the mustard spoon. The 'bone' handled knives are a matched, harlequin part-set. The baize lining is in good order. Some scratches and tarnishing to brass fittings throughout, with heavier tarnishing to the carrying handles, The oak canteen is good overall, with no engraving to the brass shield plate to the lid. Lock works well. Some marks, dings and surface dirt to the oak, with small chips and knocks around the plinth. One long scratch to the back. No splits.

A 19th century continental stained-wood (possibly fruitwood) pedestal desk; the thumbnail-moulded red-morocco and gilt-tooled leather inset top above an arrangement of 11 drawers, the central drawer carved with flowerhead lunettes in Aesthetic style, the pedestals panelled on the inner and outer sides, the rear of the desk with two panelled doors enclosing shelves, the front drawers headed with oval patera in low relief and flanked by fluted verticals, raised on plinth base (137 x 75 x 75 cm) * Condition: Leather good with just a few small scratches. Left hand side of the desk has some fading to the polish. Some small knocks and marks to the edges of the kneehole from a desk chair. No damage or losses to the mouldings. One of the plinths is separating a little to one corner. Later handles. Original locks - there are 12 working keys for the drawers (one original and 11 copies), but the cupboard at the back of the desk are missing the keys. Overall in good condition.
A George III japanned bowfront hanging corner cupboard: the shaped gallery top with single upper shelf; two doors decorated with three figures on horseback and a variety of birds in a wooded landscape and pierced brass butterfly hinges; three-shelf interior painted in the original blue and gilt; shallow hollow plinth. (LWH 59 x 39.5 x 113 cm)* Condition: Largely original condition - some small retouches to lacquer and has been varnished at some stage many years ago - the lacquer beneath has old surface dirt throughout. There are some small flakes from the lacquer showing the white gesso beneath the doors and edges. The interior has original painted finish to shelves but the inside of the doors and back panels have been later painted in a slightly lighter blue - this paint is flaking to the inside of the doors. The doors have a working lock with key and close cleanly and securely. Later black painted finished to the shelved gallery top and there are old shrinkage cracks and chips to the top of the cupboard.
A late 19th century stained-wood pedestal desk: Rexine-inlaid top with a single full-width drawer (as three); two pedestal bases flanking the kneehole space, each with three graduated drawers; plinth-style base. Maxell of Horsham - 30 hr single handed oak longcase with a painted dial, c1790 with a flat top pediment and blind frieze beneath, glazed side panels and square hood door with attached pilasters, long trunk with a conforming flat topped door on a square plinth with a stepped base, early painted dial with Roman numerals, five minute Arabic's, makers name and a depiction of a songbird, with early gesso gold painted spandrels and a single pierced steel hand, dial pinned to an early design of "birdcage" rope driven movement with count wheel strike, striking the hours on a domed bell. With weight and pendulum. The spelling of the makers name has been poorly re-written and perhaps incorrectly. The maker is more likely to have been a member of the 18th and 19th century Muzzell family who were a prolific family of clockmakers in Horsham from 1724 to 1858.
