Lot 1327

A Victorian figured mahogany bookcase of Gothic design, fitted six adjustable shelves enclosed by two pairs of glazed doors. 243 cm high, 110 cm wide, 47 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: The bookcase separates in the centre in the usual fashion. It is in generally very good condition. The moulded cornice is in good order all round. The sides of the top are not cracked. The doors are not warped. The shelves have mahogany nosings and are good quality. The base is in similarly good condition as is the plinth.

Lot 1356

A Heals of Tottenham Court Road mahogany chest of drawers, bearing plaque to top right hand drawer and fitted with a series of drawers with wooden knob handles raised on bracket feet. Height 122 cm, width 99 cm, depth 48 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chest of drawers is good quality and in generally very good order. The top is flat with no splits and of good colour. There are some minor old marks but nothing of any significance. All drawers run very smoothly and all handles are present. Some of the handles have small losses to the turnings. The sides of the chest are not split. The plinth base is in good condition all round and there is no evidence of any woodworm.

Lot 1359

A Victorian mahogany bookcase, with detachable moulded cornice above a pair of glazed doors flanked by corbels and enclosing adjustable shelves, the base fitted with a drawer above cupboards and raised on a plinth. Height 227 cm, width at waist 122 cm, depth 49 cm (see illustration).

Lot 1567

A pair of 19th century terracotta garden urns, each raised on a stepped plinth, one stamped to base Gillmead. Height 98 cm, diameter 55 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Both urns have numerous chips and small losses. Both urn tops are slightly unstable when rocked but sit flat and are not in danger of detaching. The metal rod that holds the urn top to the stand is rusted and no longer tight. There is a significant loss to the corner of the base of one urn and the square stepped base beneath has numerous small chips, nibbles and flaking paint etc. This is the urn that is marked with the makers name. The accompanying urn is still tight on the base. This urn has a 2 cm chip to the rim and various other nibbles. The stand is in similar condition to the other and has no significant issues other than the scuffs, scratches and marks already mentioned.

Lot 1575

A 19th century Scottish mahogany drum head clock by JH Jackson Longtown, with two train striking movement and circular dial, with moulded trunk door and panelled base. Height 205 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: We have both weights and the pendulum. Whilst we have not had the clock running if weight is applied to the going train the movement does tick. If weight is applied to the strike train the movement does strike when advanced. The date wheel is present. The date does advance when the pointers are manually adjusted. The movement is a little dirty but not dreadfully so. The clock face is in generally good order with only minor losses to the paintwork. The numerals are strong. The hood is very dirty and dusty. The polish is a little dry. There are some stress fractures to the veneers on the drum head. The trunk door is not warped, the sides of the trunk are not cracked. The base is in generally good order with only minor veneer nibbles at the extremities. These are most evident top rear left and top rear right. The plinth moulding has veneer losses. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The case is generally very dirty and requires a thorough clean.

Lot 1592

A Victorian amboyna wood and ebonised credenza with Sevres style porcelain plaques. CONDITION REPORT: The top spindled pediment is detached but we do have all three pieces. One of the four turned finials is missing. The superstructure is in generally very good condition with only minor stress fractures to the veneers in places but no significant losses. The mirror plates are in generally good order with some minor spotting, most of which will actually wash off. The top of the base has some faint ring marks and the odd old surface scratch. The centre drawer is a little stiff and has some minor edge veneer losses. The right and left hand shallow drawers have minor edge nibbles. All of the doors close as they should and are not warped. There is a lock escutcheon missing from the right hand small door. The front glass panels are in good condition. The lining to the shelves is worn and faded. The right hand base glazed panel needs replacing. The plinth has some veneer loss to the right hand corner. All legs are in good condition. The centre right base bearer which runs front to back behind the second leg in from the right is badly wood wormed and requires replacing. This is the only area on the piece that we can see that has any significant worm and we believe this to be pretty much isolated to that area although it would be sensible to check elsewhere and treat if necessary.

Rodin’, mounted on a black marble plinth,  26cm high â€˜Tête d'esclave’ was conceived in 1898 and this version in 1904, executed in a numbered edition of 12 and cast circa 1980s.Condition report: Generally rubbed and worn in areas commensurate with use and age. Minor spots of Verdi-gris, including to the back of the ears and a small scuff/scratch to the back of the head.

A LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED VERNIS MARTIN STRIKING MANTEL CLOCKMid-18th CenturyThe case decorated with floral sprays on a yellow ground, with pierced brass grille sides, standing on a plinth base, the enamel dial inscribed ‘Biesta a Paris’, Roman hours and Arabic minutes, the movement with countwheel strike on bell, silk suspension, pendulum and key, 59cm high Condition report: Overall losses to the decorative paintwork of the case, with areas lacking to the front below the dial. The base also with losses, shrinkage, wear and worm. Tarnishing to the mounts and rubbing to the gilding. Mounts slightly loose and with gaps noticeable to the base, probably where the base as slightly shrunk. Green lacquered backing to the grille sides is worn and damaged with numerous holes. The dial with light hairline crack running from the number 60. Minor losses to the winding holes. The movement will need a thorough overall by a qualified clock restorer. Key, pendulum and smaller key attached.

IN THE MANNER OF HOLLAND & SON; A REGENCY BRASS INLAID ROSEWOOD CENTRE TABLEWith circular snap top on three downswept supports, 117cm diameter; 70cm highCondition report:  One leg has broken next to the mount, causing the table to slightly lean. There are also two breaks or cracks either side of the triform plinth, supporting the same leg. Various veneer chips in areas, including some losses to the damaged foot/leg, losses along the edges and to the boulle inlay brass work in areas, together with some lifting of the ebony stringing.Some old marks to the top and base, with some discolouration, a few water spots in areas, scuffs and scratches as to be expected from age and use. Pleases see additional photographs on www.bellmans.co.ukThe gilding to the mounts are worn and tarnished. The mounts to the feet are rather unusual examples, terminating with a serpent head. With  flower head mounts further up the scroll supports,  one missing a central roundel, the others oxidised.  Pull handle to the underside, loose one side.
