Of bombe rectangular shape, the cover mounted with two enamelled shields depicting the Coat of Arms of the Borough of Colne, the body inset to the front with enamelled panel depicting the Hartley Hospital in Colne with a dedication inscription below. "Presented to Miss Christiana Hartley J.P. of Southport by the Town Council of the Borough of Colne. On her admission as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough on the 1st day of June 1927." The reverse side inset with two enamelled panels one depicting ColneTown Hall, the other Colne Parish Church. The whole resting on four silver bun feet on an ebonised wooden stepped rectangular plinth. 35.5cm x 19cm x 23.5cm. Note: Christiana Hartley was the first female Mayor of Southport 1921-1922 and the daughter of William Pickles Hartley of Hartley`s jam fame.
