Lot 60

Victorian figured walnut cabinet bookcase fitted three adjustable shelves enclosed by a pair of glazed doors and standing on a plinth base, 97cm wide Condition: Please see extra images and TELEPHONE department for further details

Lot 1068

A large 19th century black slate and marble combined clock and barometer, the dial marked "William Brown, Paris", with Roman numerals, two-train movement striking on two gongs and with aneroid barometer beneath. The case of Gothic style and raised on a stepped marble plinth. Overall height 36 ins, width 22 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock is in generally extremely good condition. We cannot see any significant losses to the case or metalwork. Both the barometer and clock dials are in very good order with no hairline cracks or other damage. The clock is currently ticking away and striking correctly. We do not know if the barometer is working or not. It is reading accurately for our current weather. There are some very minor chips to the marble particularly around the front of the upper section of the base but we do not consider these to be particularly detrimental. We believe the castings are bronze.

Lot 1096

A Victorian clock garniture, alabaster and ormolu mounted, the clock face inscribed "Edward & Sons, London, Paris & Glasgow". Clock width 12.5 ins, height including wooden plinth 14.5 ins (see illustration).

Lot 1164

A George III mahogany hanging corner cupboard, with dentil cornice above a glazed door with wooden astragals flanked by canted angles and with plinth beneath. Width 27 ins. CONDITION REPORT: There is a small piece of the dentil work missing on the top left hand canted angle. Other than this the piece is basically in very good order with no issues. We do not have a key and the piece is currently locked.

An Edwardian inlaid mahogany standing corner cupboard, in two sections, the top half with a swans neck pediment above a glazed door enclosing shelves flanked by canted angles, the base with panelled cupboard door and raised on a plinth. Width 27.5 ins.

Lot 1264

A George III style mahogany breakfront bookcase, hand carved, with swans neck pediment, egg and dart and dentil frieze above a series of glazed doors with wooden astragals enclosing adjustable shelves, the base fitted with a series of drawers and cupboards and raised on a plinth base. Width 96 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This bookcase is in first class condition. The cornice is in very good order and is hand carved. All of the five doors shut smoothly and lock. We have the keys. There is no damage to the glass and all glass shelves are present. The sides of the piece are in very good order as are all of the drawer and cupboard fronts. The piece could be used or resold in its current condition without the need for any work.

Lot 1265

A William IV rosewood chiffonier, with gallery to rear pediment and fitted with a pair of glazed doors with pleated cloth backs and raised on a plinth base with short bun feet. Width 51 ins. CONDITION REPORT: Generally in very good order with no damage of any significance, no repairs and no restoration. There are some old scuff marks and scratches to the top but no problems of any significance.

Lot 1318

Lot 1350

A William IV mahogany chiffonier, with carved back and shelf with scroll supports above the base fitted with a single drawer above a pair of panelled cupboard doors flanked by inverted tapering pilasters and raised on a plinth base. Width 38.5 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: First class condition. Very good quality with no significant damage, no repairs and no restoration. The only minor issue we can see is a very tiny veneer loss to the left hand corner of the right hand pilaster. This would easily sort.

Lot 1427

A Victorian mahogany bookcase, with moulded cornice above a pair of arched glazed doors with wooden astragals enclosing adjustable shelves and flanked by corbals, the base fitted with a frieze drawer and pair of arched panelled cupboard doors and raised on a plinth. Width 50 ins (see illustration).

Lot 1470

A Victorian mahogany chiffonier, with rear upstand, serpentine front, frieze drawer and pair of panelled cupboards doors, flanked by canted angles and raised on a plinth base. Width 52.5 ins (see illustration).

Lot 1492

A Victorian walnut pedestal sideboard, with rear upstand, plate glass top and fitted with a frieze drawer flanked on either side by a panelled cupboard with corbals and raised on a plinth base. Width 79 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The sideboard is in generally very good condition. It is however a base from a larger piece and will at some point have had a superstructure. The left hand door has a piece of moulding from the top left hand panel which is loose. We have the piece. The centre drawer is in good order as is the right hand cupboard door. The sides of the piece are in very good condition as is the back. The plinth base is in good order also. The item could be used or resold in its current condition without the need for any repair or restoration but as stated please bear in mind that the piece has had a mirror back and that there are four dowel hole repairs in the top and marks where the back has been supported.

Lot 1498

A Victorian mahogany Wellington chest, with seven graduated drawers with wooden knob handles flanked by pilasters with corbals and raised on a plinth base. Width 20.25 ins (see illustration).

Lot 1499

A George III standing oak corner cabinet, bleached, with glazed upper half, canted angles and plinth base. Width 29.5 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The corner cupboard is structurally fairly solid. It is however generally a little tired. There are various dents, knocks and small losses to the cornice. The bottom left hand glass pane has a small crack which should be visible from our image. The canted angles on the top and base are both a little scuffed and marked. The moulding at the front of the top half is slightly loose. The bottom door is currently locked and we do not have a key. They are usually easy to open. It looks as if this piece has been stripped and limed. The overall effect is quite good but the estimate reflects the general nature of the piece.

Lot 1508

A Victorian walnut pedestal desk, with rectangular top with green gilt tooled leather above a shallow frieze, fitted with five drawers to each pedestal with wooden knob handles and with plinth base. Width 42 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The green gilt tooled leather is a later replacement but in very good condition. The crossbanded top is in good order as is the frieze at back, sides and front. The drawer fronts are all in basically good condition although a little dirty. There are minor veneer losses between the drawers . All wooden knob handles are present. The piece is structurally solid and the plinth base, sides and back in good condition. The back is polished and panelled but does not open. There is no evidence woodworm. The green gilt tooled leather is a later replacement but in very good condition. The cross banded top is in good order has is the frieze at both back, sides and front. The drawer front s are all in basically good condition although a little dirty. There are minor veneer losses between the drawers which are fairly minor and should be visible on our images. All wooden knob handles are present. The piece is structurally solid and the plinth base sides and back in good condition. The back is polished and panelled but does not open. There is no evidence of any woodworm.

Lot 1510

A Victorian mahogany mirror back chiffonier, with foliate scrolling pediment above a rectangular mirror with scroll supports, the inverted breakfront base fitted with a series of panelled cupboard doors and raised on a plinth. Width 84 ins (see illustration).

Lot 170

A Victorian Parian bust, "General Havelock", raised on a socle plinth. Height 12.5 ins. CONDITION REPORT: This lot has no major damage, no repairs and no restoration. The piece is a little dirty and there are minor scuff marks to the extremities but no losses. The circular base has a very small old hairline crack around the bottom edge of the foot rim. This runs for approximately 1 cm but is not really of any significance.

Lot 212

A Beswick Arkle, Pat Taaffe Up, raised on a wooden plinth. CONDITION REPORT: The reins are missing and the metal bridle at one side has been broken and repaired. There is the remains of glue to the side of the horses head presumably where the reins should have been although there is no actual damage to the pottery itself. Otherwise in very good order, no chips, cracks or restoration.
