Coalport; a pair of late 19th early 20th century cobalt blue ground and gilt heightened baluster vases with covers, raised on a square plinth, a hand painted vignettes of scenic views, signed E. O. Ball, height 29cm. Printed marks to the base. CONDITION REPORT Wear commensurate with age. Crazing throughout and possible evidence of touching up to the gilding on some pieces.
A massive 19th century carved portland stone statue of George Canning, the figure 216cm high, the plinth 40cm high. Provenance Sotheby's Sussex 20th May 1998 Lot 583. George Canning 1770-1827, a progressive politician and briefly prime minister for only five months, is buried close to his mentor, William Pitt the younger, in Westminster Abbey. One well know commemorative statue of him by Sir Francis Chantry is dated 1834 and positioned in the North Transept of the Abbey, better known as Statesman aisle, where he stands alongside his son, Earl Canning, by J.H. Foley and his cousin Stratford Canning by Sir J.E Boehm. Please note this lot will require specialist moving.
A George II eight day walnut and crossbanded longcase clock, the thirteen inch arch top dial with subsidiary day, month, second and strike/silent dials amongst gilt spandrels, signed 'Will M Manlove, London', the figured case with turned hood mounts and an arch topped trunk door, on plinth base, 254cm high, to include two weights and a pendulum.
An early 20th Century mahogany veneered wardrobe with flared dentil cornice, above a central cupboard with oval flame veneered door, above four graduating drawers with ornate cast brass handles, flanked by shaped bevelled mirror panel doors enclosing hanging spaces, raised on a cut-away plinth base.
