A George II mahogany cased longcase clock by Richard France, Warrington, (1720-1740)The arched pediment above slender tapering architectural columns flanking the 13" break arch brass dial with a silvered moon phase dial above a silvered chapter ring, signed with the makers name and enclosing a subsidiary second dial and date aperture, the dial applied with gilt metal openwork figural spandrels and the eight day movement striking upon a saucer bell, the fine slender case with a shaped and crossbanded door above a conforming crossbanded lower panel, raised upon a plinth base with bracket feet, two weights and pendulum, height 217cms approx.
