A George III mahogany hanging corner cupboard, with dentil cornice, blind fretwork frieze and pair of panelled cupboard doors flanked by canted angles. Width 83 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The left hand canted angle to the cornice is detached and there are some minor losses to the fretwork at this point. The cupboard is generally a little tired but there are no significant further condition issues. The doors shut as they should with no significant warping. The sides and plinth moulding are in good condition. The painted interior is very dirty but all spice drawers are present. The backboards are original. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
A satin birch cupboard in the manner of Holland, with moulded cornice above a pair of panelled cupboard doors with wooden knob handle and raised on a plinth. Width 91 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Depth 39 cm, width 91 cm, height 107 cm, shelf depth 31 cm. The cabinet is structurally sound. The top is in good order with no losses only minor old surface marks and scratches. The black dots are in the main paint splashes which remove when rubbed. The doors close as they should. They are not warped. The spring loaded catch operates as it should. The brass hinges are marked Horne Patent. The left hand door retaining brass slides operate as they should. The interior shelves are a little stained but perfectly serviceable. The sides of the piece are in good order. The backboards are original. The plinth base has minor nibbles around the corners and returns as one would expect.
A small Regency mahogany chiffonier, with rear shelved upstand, two drawers and pair of doors and raised on short turned legs. Width 59 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The pediment shelf, turned supports and top of the piece are in generally good condition with only minor surface scratches and old stress fractures to the veneers. The top is flat. The moulded edge to the top is all intact. The right hand drawer has a stress fracture to the veneer and a replacement lock escutcheon. There is also a small nibble to the top right hand corner. The left hand drawer similarly has a replacement lock escutcheon. We have both locks and keys. The doors are in generally good order with no warping. We have the lock and key. The sides of the cabinet are in generally good condition as is the plinth moulding and original feet. The backboards are original and in good order.
A Victorian mahogany bookcase, with three quarter gallery above a pair of glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves and flanked by corbals and with plinth base. Width 116 cm, height 151 cm, depth 35 cm including corbals. CONDITION REPORT: The bookcase is in generally good condition. The gallery is intact. The top is flat with only minor surface marks. The cornice is in generally good order all round. Both doors close as they should and are not warped. All shelves are present and in good condition. The sides of the bookcase do not have any splits. The plinth base has minor marks and scratches as one would expect. There is no evidence of any woodworm. The piece could be used in its current state without the need for any repair or restoration.
A Derby group of Jason and Medea at the altar of Diana, circa 1780, Diana standing on a rams mask plinth with quiver, arrows on her back, a bow by her right hand side, Jason and Medea on a naturalistic ground standing either side of her, sword and shield to the foreground, incised "No. 37" and further incised "3". 59 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The crescent headband has two small chips and a hint of possible restoration. The gilding is a little rubbed. The raised hand of the left figure has some restoration to the thumb and first two fingers. The right hand figure has restoration to the hand and in particularly the finger tips. There is a small loss to the tip of one ear of the goat on the pedestal. There are the usual chips to the floral encrustations around the base. The rear goat head has two losses to the ears. The burning fire has one small chip. The gilding is a little rubbed in places and there are one or two minor paint chips.
A set of three French figures, late 19th century, comprising a musician, farmer and gentleman, each with painted faces their attire heightened with gilding and all standing before a stump, shaped based. Tallest 25 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Figure with bagpipes - apart from a minor piece of paint missing from his lips, and some very slight glaze rubbing there are no further obvious faults. Figure with left hand in jacket - this appears to have been carrying something in his right hand which is now missing. There appears to have been an animal at his feet which is now missing. The gilding to 50% of the body looks more akin to pink lustre. Figure holding a lamb - left arm has been broken off and re-attached. Left thumb is missing. Left hand has been broken at the wrist and re-attached. This figure has been broken off its plinth, there is a large repaired crack to the stump at the rear, it has been broken off by his left knee and right foot. The right foot has small parts missing and the crack is very obvious. There are no makers marks visible.
