* Chinese Silverware, circa 19th-20th century, a dog of Fo, staring forwards with four paws firmly on the ground, the stylised tail curved onto the back, sitting on a two-layer hexagonal plinth with low relief dragons and dogs of Fo on brocade grounds, the base marked “Chunyin” (Pure Silver), 5.8 cm high, together with a white metal hexagonal tapering bottle with lid, decorated with flowers in five panels, inscribed in the sixth panel, “Jixiang Ruyi” (Peace, Luck and As one’s wish), the lid jammed in place and with a central hole (possibly missing a finial), 6 cm high, plus a Chang Ming Suo (Longevity Lock), in white metal, for children to wear on the neck in order to be guarded from evil spirits, on one side decorated with low relief child surrounded with precious objects, the other with inscriptions “Changming Fugui” (Longevity, Wealth and Nobility), 5.5 cm wide, with three further white metal objects: a belt buckle, embossed with a dog of Fo flanked with pierced foliage, encircled with a band of short lines, 6.6 cm wide; a turtle, with base mark “? ? A Chinese wood and black lacquer neck pillow: probably late 19th / early 20th century, the concave top on a rectangular pedestal with single end drawer, on a stepped plinth and six short, bracket feet, 28.5 cm long, 17.5 cm high.* Condition: Some wear to lacquer throughout, and some chips / flakes to the edges and corners. Dripped splash of red paint to one side of the top. Replaced handle to drawer.
A late 19th century Maw & Co. Art Pottery charger: centrally decorated with an open-winged dove over a plinth inscribed 'PAX', impressed 'Maw & Co.' and 'Broseley' marks to the underside. (33.5 cm in diameter). * Condition: Light glaze crazing and a few light scratches to the glaze to the upper surface. The upper right of the front has a curved, darkened area to the ground in the foliate border, which is later discolouration. Two chips to the footrim. There is a small chip to the underside of the rim, which has an associated crack along the rim to either side, which joins two smaller glaze chips to either side. There is also a flake to the glaze lower in the same area on the underside.
