A large mahogany serving table by Gillows of Lancaster,late 19th century, of serpentine outline, with all-over profusely-carved floral and foliate decoration, the raised back centred with the trophies of arms motif, above a gadroon-edged top and three frieze drawers, the central example stamped 'GILLOW 17129', raised on four paw-footed monopods with alternating lion and satyr masks, on a shaped plinth base,266cm wide76cm deep166cm highCondition report: Some fading and discolouration to top and back. One particular area of wear to the right-hand side of the back. Some fairly deep and noticeable scratches to top and base. Further general scratches, surface wear, knocks and marks. Some chips and losses to carved decoration, particularly the knees. Joints largely tight. The whole heavy, of good quality and extremely well-carved. Drawers run relatively smoothly. General wear commensurate with age and use.

General chips, knocks and small losses. Split to base. Left most dowel that united the back and the top is snapped and remains in the top hole. Some scratches and marks to top. Joints tight and generally sturdy. Of very nice quality overall, as one would expect from Gillow.

One with an incisor tooth missing. The same with a crack and loss to the tail. Chip and repair to one tail.Chips, knocks and losses to corners and edges and losses to paint throughout. A walnut cased bracket clock,19th century, by Reid & Auld, the five-pillar movement with twin-chain fusee, strike/silent lever, striking the hours on a bell, the silvered dial and backplate inscribed 'Reid & Auld Edinburgh 1305', the dial also inscribed 'Wilson & Co. Mooltan' at the bottom, the case with scrollwork top, glazed side panels and oval pendulum viewing window, on a plinth base,28cm wide21.5cm deep53cm highCondition report: Clock has been altered at some stage. There are several features that appear to have been changed - the brackets securing the movement have been blocked up and there is an odd hole in one of the brass pieces. Some screws with burred slots, various vacant and filled holes in back plate, current pendulum functions but doesn't fit into travelling bracket. Dial needs cleaning, top of case has repairs to mouldings, front door with loose top hinge and three small filled in hinge end, hinges reset, name at bottom of dial partially obscured by wood surround. Inside woodwork of case appears crude.
A George III mahogany secretaire breakfront bookcase,early 19th century, the astragal glazed upper section over a central bank of drawers, flanked by further drawers with a cupboard beneath, raised on a plinth base,208cm wide54cm deep242cm highCondition report: Faded drawer fronts bleached, mouldings possibly restorations patches. Locks replaced. Knocks and polished-in dents. Veneer bubbling and cracked on doors and pediment. Plinth with knocks. No escutcheon. Likely later replacements. Areas of drawers beading replaced. Apparently free from worm. It separates into several pieces, with top central sections and base separate. The base being the largest part.See additional images.

After Charles Robinson Sykes: a Rolls Royce Phantom 'Spirit of Ecstasy' car radiator mascot, circa 1929, solid nickel, indistinctly inscribed to base R R Ltd, cast marks under wings 'Trade Mark Reg, Reg US Pat Off', figure 13cms high, on radiator cap plinth and turned mahogany box base, 18cms high overall. Note: The majority of Phantom I mascots are marked Rolls-Royce Ltd Feb 6 1911, but in 1929 when the Phantom II was introduced the shape of the base, on all mascots, and the lettering around it changed to R R Ltd 6-2-11.
