Globe Wernicke type beech three tier bookcase, raised on plinth base 97cm wide x 37cm deep x 109cm high. Provenance: By descent from Douglas Shepherd (1922-1989), a designer and architect working on public houses for the brewery firm Ind Coope. He was heavily influenced by and was a serious collector of Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau, including leading designers and artists such as Charles Ashlee and Jessie M King. He assembled a large collection from the 1950s to 1970s. His book collection was subsequently sold through Sotherby’s and in 2013 his magnificent silver collection by Archibald Knox and others was sold through these rooms.
1920s oak twin pedestal partners desk with an arrangement of sixteen drawers, on plinth base, 152cm wide x 12cm deep x 77cm high, together with a revolving desk chairProvenance: removed from Basts, GrundisburghTop with general wear and some marks and stains. There is an element of finishing missing below each frieze drawer, one handle is missing and two others have damage and loss, on plinth base appears to have a replaced element to one pedestal (sympathetically done), otherwise just general wear, mostly good ordertop is 121 x 151cm and 2cm deep. Bases are 43 x 119cm x 76cm highchair has wear and some splits to back but is generally good and structurally ok
18th century 30 hour oak longcase clock, with signed square brass dial signed 'Houghton, Oversly Green’, weight and pendulum present, 227cm highNo obvious signs of any woodworm. Case is in good condition. Plinth base has probably been replaced many years ago. Unfortunately we do not know if it is in working order
