A Victorian novelty silver salt, Lionel Spiers, Birmingham 1891, initialled and dated 1892, modelled as a knight's helm, 4cm high, approximately 20gm Condition Report: This may once have been gilded there appear to be faint traces of gilt. The front edge of the circular base has an applied piece of silver, possibly a repair. To back of plinth is engraved JAFA 1892. Visor does not open, it is pierced to release pepper, beneath is a circular screw in plug where it can be filled.
