Ian Homer Walters (British 1930-2006) - plaster work maquette for the sculpture Memorial to the International Brigade (Spanish Civil War), sited in Jubilee Gardens, South Bank, London and unveiled on 5th October 1985; with original pencil working markings and raised on a stepped plinth base, 67 cm total height approx (Ian Homer Walters was a socialist and sculptor who taught at Guildford School of Art and whose works include a head of Nelson Mandela outside the Royal Festival Hall and a sculpture of Harold Wilson). This lot was removed from the artist's Battersea Road Studio

A Victorian Reformed Gothic oak sideboard in the manner of Charles Bevan, circa 1870, the whole with extensive ebony stringing, parquetry and marquetry inlay includuing dots and squares, mirror back with a castellated frieze and motto over a shelf, the lower section with a central frieze drawer flanked by cupboards either side with stylized floral marquetry inlay, Gothic brass hinges and handles, plinth, height 190cm, width 175cm, depth 68cmNote: Charles Bevan (d.1882) was an English Gothic Revival designer, acclaimed for his furniture designs. He worked with a number of prominent Victorian furniture manufacturers and designers, including Gillows and J. P. Seddon. Together with William Burges and Bruce Talbert, Chalres Bevan was a forerunner of the Gothic Revival movement of the 19th Century. The dot inlay as seen on this piece, is a particular feature of his designs.
