ISIDORE-JULES BONHEUR (1827-1901), RACEHORSE AND JOCKEY, A LARGE PATINATED BRONZE, signed "I Bonheur", raised on a green marble plinth. Bronze 68cm by 75cm, Note: Originally cast in c. 1860, the subject lot is probably a mid-20th century cast. The subject is a famous racehorse, Kinscem, winner of fifty-four races including the Derby and the St. Leger. For an illustration see Christopher Payne, "Animals in Bronze", H200, p.349.

A mid 19th century Boulle marquetry oval miniature Box or Tea Caddy, an early Victorian tortoiseshell Tea Caddy, a late 19th century carved ivory Brooch and a similar period scagliola Papier Presse, the miniature box or caddy of oval form with foliate scroll brass inlaid decoration, the similarly inlaid slightly domed lid with brass knopped handle, the Victorian caddy of rectangular form with column corners, the hipped lid opening to a foil lined interior, on plinth base and bun feet, the brooch formed as a bunch of grapes hanging from a section of a leafy vine, the papier presse of rectangular form with central diamond motifs within a scalloped border (4)" The boulle box, 7.5cm high, 8.2cm wide, 5.5cm deep, the ivory brooch 7cm the presse-papier, 2cm high, 13cm wide, 8cm deep The miniature box or tea caddy in fair condition commensurate with age with slight losses to the tortoiseshell to the edges of the base and slight lifting to the brass-work in places, the hinges slightly loose, the interior with losses to the foil lining. The Victorian tea caddy in poor to fair condition with damages and losses to the tortoiseshell veneers and a column lacking to one corner.The brooch in good condition with some dust and dirt to the crevices of the carving.The papier presse with dust and dirt to the surface and losses to one corner. 12th (Prince of Wales’s Royal) Lancers, OR’s lance cap plate circa 1905-14. A good die-stamped brass triangular fluted plate bearing the Royal Arms with the Prince of Wales’s plumes above. Beneath the Arms the Sphinx on Egypt plinth with battle honours up to ‘South Africa 1899-1902’ ‘Paardeberg’ and ‘Relief of Kimberley’. Two screw posts to reverse. GC

Crowned strap ‘2nd Warwickshire’; voided centre with Sphinx on ‘Egypt’ plinth resting on ‘24’. Brass loops North and South. Some service wear. GC (KK 458) Became South Wales Borderers on Friday 1st July, 1881. During the period this badge was worn, the 24th fought the Zulus at Battle of Isandhlwana and during the gallant Defence of Rorke’s Drift.

Irish. Royal Irish Fusiliers post 1881 OR’s fur cap grenade. A good die-stamped brass flaming grenade, the ball bearing an eagle on plinth bearing Ô8’ Two loops to reverse. VGC (KK 954) The Eagle and tablet inscribed ‘8’ represents the Eagle on the flagstaff of the 8th French Light Infantry captured by the old 87th Fusiliers at Barossa on 5th March 1811.

French 79th Regiment Standard Bearer Painted Spelter Figure. This large and impressive painted metal statue depicts a French soldier of the 79th Regiment about the time of the Franco Prussian War of 1870. He is full length wearing light blue greatcoat, scarlet pantaloons , equipment and scarlet Kepi, bearing the number 79 to his head. He holds the regimental colours as he straddles a cannon barrel. The base is signed ‘Kip Moreau’. and bears a Paris foundry stamp. Raised on a turned marble plinth. Height 16 inches. GC detail good This is a spelter figure which has been over painted to a high standard.
