The model comes in an illustrated display box with a hinged lid, part detached, and whilst the model is still attached to the yellow card plinth both model and box have general grubbiness, the radiator is loose and there is some distortion to plastic parts, overall G in F box.

SHAW GEORGE BERNARD: (1856-1950) Irish Playwright, Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1925. A.L.S., G. Bernard Shaw, to the verso of a colour picture postcard of the Regina Grand Hotel and Lake Maggiore, Stresa, n.d. (26th June 1927), to Kenneth Macgowan. Shaw informs his correspondent 'I must reserve Brassbound for the Theatre Guild' and explains 'My relators with that enterprise make it difficult for me (to) license any competing body to exploit my plays in New York. It's an economic, not a personal situation; and I have really no choice in the matter'. Shaw concludes by commenting 'By the way, I hope I thanked you for the very interesting book you sent me on the latest developments in the theatre. Anyhow, I read it, and intended to write to you about it'. Framed and glazed to both sides in the unusual original dark wooden frame incorporating a plinth, thereby allowing the frame to be placed on a desk or other suitable, flat surface. Some light overall age toning, otherwise about VG       Kenneth Macgowan (1888-1963) American Film Producer, Academy Award winner. At the time of Shaw's letter Macgowan was the producer at the Provincetown Playhouse in Greenwich Village, New York and in the following year, 1928, moved to Hollywood to work as a film producer.  Captain Brassbound's Conversion was first published by Shaw in 1901 and the play received its first American performance in 1907, starring Ellen Terry.
