A late 19th century Alfred Stellmacher Turn Teplitz porcelain oil lamp in the form of an Indian elephant, with gilded decoration, blush ivory ground surmounted on oval plinth, later converted for electricity (36cm to include fitting). Condition Report: Overall condition good. No tusks (don't think, there ever were). Crack to inner base. Gilding slightly rubbed. No major damage.

A Staffordshire cast and glazed ceramic figure depicting Uncle Tom seated, holding a book, with Little Eva upon his knee, the plinth inscribed 'UNCLE TOM'S CABIN' in gilt letters, from the novel of this title by Harriet Beecher Stowe. 647 grams, 23cm tall (9"). Property of a Harwich, Essex, UK charity appeal; by donation. Harriet (Elisabeth) Beecher Stowe (1811-1896 AD) was the author of Uncle Tom's Cabin, the famous work, first published as a book in 1852, describing the harsh life of slaves in America just before the Civil War; the book soon became influential in America and England and provoked anger in the southern States. [No Reserve] Fine condition; two unobtrusive shrinkage cracks.

JOHN W MILLS (born 1933); a cast Silicon aluminium bust of William Blake, height 37cm including plinth. (D) Produced in 1964 at Digswell House where the artist worked with Hans Coper, Peter Collingwood and John Brunsdon. The artist has confirmed he produced four of these busts alongside the commissioned William Blake memorial installed in Blake House, Marshall Steet, London on the site of Blake's birthplace.
