1st-2nd century AD. A substantial bronze statuette of Fortuna (Greek Tyche) standing on a bell-shaped plinth with leaf ornament to the rim; the goddess standing in loosely draped chiton with mantle gathered at the shoulders, the hair dressed and extending in braids to the collar and neck, left arm supporting a cornucopia with overflowing fruit; tall stud modius above the head. 1.2 kg, 22cm (8 3/4"). On the London art market since 1990; with Pierre Bergé & Associés, Archéologie, Paris, 16 December 2015, lot 239 (22,000-25,000 euros); accompanied by copies of the relevant Pierre Bergé catalogue pages. 1st-2nd century AD. A water-worn marble statue of Eros (Greek Cupid) standing on an integral rectangular plinth; a winged figure with soft, boyish body, right hand resting on hip, left hand covering the crotch, leaning against a tree stump; to the right of the stump a bow, to the left a quiver. 6.8 kg, 39cm (15 1/4"). Property of a lady living in Kent, UK; formerly part of her grandfather's collection; acquired in Germany after WWII; thence by descent 2006. Fair condition, head re-attached.

A carved schist statuette of Buddha standing in loosely draped robe, nimbus behind the head, plinth with figures modelled in the half-round; mounted on a custom-made stand. 9.7 kg, 57cm including stand (22 1/2"). Property of a London Gandharan art collector, acquired in the late 1990s; formerly with various UK sources acquired by them since the 1960s. Fine condition.
