A Fine and Rare Rolls-Royce Sterling Silver Presentation Desk Piece Barometer, by Saunders & Shepherd. London 1933, hallmarked in two places, in form of a Rolls-Royce radiator with machined grille decoration and fitted with R-R badge, lacking a Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, encasing a square dial barometer with adjusting hands, the plinth engraved JHK From 1927 the Managing Directors of a Rolls-Royce main distributor were each presented with fine silver items comprising a desk clock for 1927, cigarette box for 1928, ink blotter for 1929 and sweetmeat dish for 1930. After Rolls-Royce purchased the Bentley firm in 1931 the gifts resumed in 1932 comprising an ink blotter for 1932, barometer 1933, cigarette lighter 1934, salver 1935, rose bowl 1936, and bookends 1937. A Good Mahogany Eight Day Centre Seconds Longcase Clock, signed J.Kaye, Liverpool, circa 1770, swan neck pediment with gilt decorated eglomise blue glass panels, nicely figured trunk door flanked with fluted pilasters, plinth with raised quatre form panel, 13-1/4-inch arched brass dial with a silvered signed chapter ring, dial centre with an engraved winged cherub and scroll decoration, date aperture, moonphase in the arch, four pillar movement with rack striking on a bell, 256cm high see illustration 15.06.17, Hood with later finials, moulding around the hood glass door with signs of restoration in parts, underside of the hood with fine strips of wood missing, trunk sides with scuff and cut marks, trunk door and the plinth raised panel with small cracks to veneers, plinth sides with cracks, dial chapter ring is slightly discoloured, movement looks complete, with pendulum and two weights.
