Set of four rare carved and polychrome painted alabaster figures, possibly 18th century Indian for the Western market, the standing figures in classical dress, variously modelled with animals, fruit, musical instruments, on stepped plinth bases, each bearing probably later inscriptions, 17.5cm high
George III eight day longcase clock by F. Marshall of Bath, with painted arched dial with subsidiary seconds in oak case with swan-neck pediment and turned columns, 210cm high (pendulum and weights present) CONDITION REPORT General overall condition reasonably good. Movement is dirty and we are unable to say if it is in full working order. Seat board has been replaced and crutch has been bent to accommodate it. Seat board supports have been replaced and are now fixed inside side panels. Dial is dirty and crazed. Some damage to enamelling. Second hand is a replacement and dial itself is bent at bottom right corner. Case is in good condition. Some minor evidence of woodworm activity particularly in back board. Minor cracking to side panels, joints in plinth are opening up. Hood is generally good, front door hinges have been relocated at some time. Difficult to date but we believe late 18th / early 19th century
A GEORGE III MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE BOOKCASE, with a moulded cornice over a pair of astragal glazed doors enclosing three adjustable shelves, the base with a fitted secretaire drawer over a pair of panelled cupboard doors, supported on a plinth base. 7ft 6ins high x 4ft 3ins wide x 1ft 10ins deep.
A 19th century mahogany ottoman stool, of wasted square form, with velour upholstered hinged lid, raised on plinth base with bun feet, 44cm high x 92cm wide CONDITION REPORT: Lot 539 - Cover: stained and discoloured with holes (requires recovering). Frame is sturdy, base and feet are scuffed, scraped and marked with colour faded, signs of old worm (minor), one corner to moulded base has been repaired.
A Victorian ebonised and burr walnut credenza, the moulded rectangular top with canted lobe corners, over enclosed frieze with applied beading, in laid panelled door, with Jasper ware plaque flanked by fluted baluster columns and glazed doors enclosing shelves raised on plinth base and turned feet, 175cm wide x 107cm high x 42cm deep
