1972 Land Rover 88 SIII Lightweight"Make: Land RoverModel: 88"Year: 1972Mileage: 37800VIN: 95100073AConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: PHJ481KTransmission: manualThe British Army - and others, across the globe - was a big user of Land Rovers, and this 1972 Series III Lightweight went into military service when new. Lightweights had considerable modifications compared to standard Landies, with parts removed to save weight and many body components easily removeable should even more pounds need to be shed. This 2286cc machine served with the Grenadier Guards from 1972 to 1976, then the Scots Guards until 1979 and the Coldstream Guards during 1984, before entering Civvy Street in 1985, according to the photocopy of the military history card that comes with it. There's also a copy of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, showing its dispatch to the Central Army Vehicle Depot in Ashchurch in May 1972. The vendor acquired the vehicle in 2017. Recent jobs include a new starter motor and battery fitted in January this year, plus half-shafts replaced and a rear bench seat fitted during 2018. There are invoices for these jobs in the (somewhat lightweight) history folder. The odometer shows 37,800 although this is unwarranted. However, Land Rovers often covered comparatively few miles in military service compared to their civilian counterparts. For anybody wishing to show off the Lightweight at shows, it is now fitted again with lots of military equipment, such as a patrol radio, front-mounted antennas, flag mast and Grenadier Guards convoy badge, plus other bits and pieces. A service was carried out in June 2020 at 41,608 miles, while the MoT is valid until September 2021. The history folder includes the V5 (noting seven former keepers), a generic service book, handwritten list of new parts, and the MoT certificate. Finished in Smoke silver with Mushroom cloth interior, it's factory extras included metallic paint, folding rear seat, and road pack. This Mercedes saloon is described by the vendor as one of the best examples around. He advises that everything is in perfect working order and that the car is excellent to drive. It was retained by the first owner until 2021 and is sold with 61,538 warranted miles. The history file includes the original Lancaster bill of sale, where the car was serviced until 2008. From 2009 until 2018 it was serviced by Mercedes specialist, Simon Light. It also comes with service receipts dating from 1998 to 2018, MoTs, handbook and wallet. 1966 Mercedes Benz 220 SE Auto Cabriolet Make: Mercedes Model: 220 SE Year: 1966Mileage: 30587VIN: 11102322079111Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: FUN484DTransmission: automatic Nicknamed Gloria, this 1966 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Cabriolet was acquired by the vendor in 2000, from a family cousin who owned it from 1981. Prior to that, it's believed that the car was purchased new for use by the chairman of ICI. The present owner has used the car for trips abroad including France and Malta. And it was in Malta, during the early part of the 21st century, that it was restored according to the history file; a task not without incident, as the gearbox parts were stolen en route from Scotland to Malta, and the subsequent delay to the rebuild resulted in Malta customs authorities threatening to impound the car. There's an eye-watering amount of paperwork (albeit only dating back to the 1990s), showing lots of care and attention for even minor issues, and a great deal of expenditure. Some of the more recent jobs involved an engine tune-up in May of this year, rectification of a hot indicator stalk, and new padding for the driver's seat. The selection of MoTs (and other paperwork) suggest the current indicated mileage of 130,587 is genuine. The last MoT expired in April 2019; the car was at 127,710 miles when that test was undertaken. The files also contain the original owner's manual, relevant magazine articles, parts lists and diagrams, old tax discs and photos taken throughout the car's life. The Mercedes-Benz is now in need of some work, with bubbling apparent on both headlamp peaks, the rear quarters, and around the rear wheel arches, most significantly the nearside one. See our pictures for more detail. Inside, there's sun damage to the top of the wooden dash - a common issue with these cars - plus wear to the black leather seats. This long-wheel base, bumperless saloon has been owned by the vendor for four years and during this time has been subject to paintwork and the seat and door cards have been re-covered. The vendor advises that prior to his ownership it had been converted to 12volt and he was advised that a new carburettor and fuel pump had been fitted along with two front brake cylinders, battery and front tyres. It was re-registered in 1992 and records five owners since. The history file includes Heritage certificate, MoTs and tax discs from the 1990's, a few receipts, 1934 Model brochure, manuals and various documents. The mileage is recorded at 6,304. It paid homage to Rover's links with British Racing Motors, the Formula One team of the 1950s to the 1970s, and was based on the range-topping Vi model with the 143bhp 1.8-litre VVC K-Series engine. Among the limited edition touches were red quilted leather seats and door panels, red carpet, seat belts and steering wheel, along with alloy heater controls and turned aluminium trim elsewhere. Brooklands Green paint was used for the exterior, with silver trim details, 16in alloys, and a woven mesh grille above a BRM trademark large orange snout. The price was £18,000, with only 795 built for the UK, plus an additional 350 for overseas markets. This car's first owner had it from 1999 to 2000, with its second custodian holding onto it from 2000 through to early 2021. The vendor acquired it at the start of 2021, and reports that in excess of £1600 was spent in April, replacing the head gasket (with a multi-layer item), timing belt and water pump, with fresh brake pads and calipers also fitted all around. The paperwork includes the current V5 (and a copy of an old one), invoice for the work carried out in April, and a current MoT certificate valid to April 2022. There's also a spare set of keys with remote control, and the locking wheelnut key. The indicated odometer reading is 30,400 miles, which appears to be backed up by the available online MoT history - in 2006, the mileage was 16,952.

1947 Triumph 1800 Roadster Make: Triumph Model: 1800 Roadster Year: 1947Mileage: 78375VIN: TRD704Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: YAS611Transmission: manualForever associated with Jim Bergerac's crime-busting antics in the hit BBC TV series of the 1980s and early 1990s, one of the Triumph Roadster's other claims to fame is that it was the last British car to feature a dickey seat. This 1947 example has been converted from column change to floor change (to a very professional standard), although the original bits will be sold with the car. The vendor reports that the car was restored from 2001 to 2003 - including having all its woodwork renewed - and was then used for shows and pleasure trips, including a a few visits to Jersey and, on one memorable occasion, ferrying John Nettles - Jim Bergerac himself - around when he opened the BBC Radio Norfolk show. The history file includes pictures of the restoration, MoTs dating back to 2006, and a wide assortment of 21st century bills, including one for a stainless steel exhaust in 2008. There's also the instruction book, Triumph Roadster Club restoration guide and technical handbook, plus a plaque from when the car won an award at the Hatton Country Show Rally in June 2007. The odometer records the mileage as 78,375. Although the restoration was getting on for 20 years ago now, the car's condition is holding up well, with the exterior and interior in very good order.
